Winter and Karina arrived at the hospital. Winter hurriedly walks through the corridor with Wendy on the phone, showing her the way. Karina just walks alongside Winter, keeping up with her pace.

"here's the room." Winter opens the door and walks in, followed by Karina.

Winter sees a doctor and a nurse checking on her mother. followed by Karina, Winter goes over to them.

"mom." Winter holds her hand. "sorry I couldn't come yesterday."

"I'm better now, dear." The mother smiles at her. "hi, Karina."

"good afternoon, ma'am." Karina greeted her.

"you are the other daughter, I suppose." The doctor said to Winter. "she needs to stay here until everything is stable. Too much stress is not good for her."

"I get it, sir. How long do you think she needs to stay?"

"we need to keep monitoring her heart. Good thing that it's not too late for your sister to call an ambulance. I'm afraid that there's a blockage on her heart and her lungs are not good as well. Looks like she'll stay for two weeks or so." The doctor explained. "her age plays a role in here. She won't be able to recover as fast as you."

"okay, then. thank you, sir."

The doctor leaves them and Winter sits on the only chair beside the bed.

"Wendy is buying food from the cafeteria." The mother informed. "I want to ask..." the mother paused. "about your father."

Winter holds her hand, thinking to herself. The news is not great, of course, but she needs to tell her. Karina then placed her hand on Winter's shoulder to hold her thought to tell her.

"how's the food here? Did you eat well?" Winter smiles at her, averting the conversation.

"it's not bad. I still like my own food, though." The mother still managed to stifles a laugh. "I'm sorry, Winter."

"what for? What's important is now you have a proper care. You don't have to think about him again."

"did he leave?" the mother looks at Winter, as if begging her to explain. "I know that we're not perfect. But, does he hate us that much?"

Winter sighs, looking down. she doesn't know what else to say.

"why don't you look for Wendy? I'll keep an eye on her." Karina placed her hand on hand on Winter's shoulder.

"okay." Winter looked up at her then back to her mother while standing up. "I'll be back, mom. Talk to her for a bit."

Winter walks out of the room, going to the cafeteria where Wendy is supposed to be at. Instead of the said place, Winter found her outside the building, pacing back and forth with a smoke on her hand. She's indeed looks frustrated.

"Wendy!" Winter jogs towards her. "what are you doing?"

"he's that bad, huh?" Wendy scoffed. She then sits on a nearest bench.

Winter sees her red eyes. looks like she's been crying.

"what happened?" Winter asked, sits beside her.

"I caught him calling someone. He's like talking about living together, paying something, buying a house. I swear to God it sounded like he's having an affair. He said she's a friend from work." Wendy sighs. "I don't believe that bullshit. I thought he cares about me." she wipes her teary eyes. "he knows that I have a job. Since then, I've been buying shits for us. I don't even wanna know where he used his money."

"he'll sold the apartment." Winter informed.

Wendy stands up and kicks the bench angrily.

"hey, calm down first." Winter grabs her hand, asking her to sit down again.

Wendy throws a pack of cigarette at Winter, offering her. Winter gladly lit one up and takes a long puff. She then helps Wendy to lit hers up.

"how much do you have, now?" Wendy asked.

"plenty. I think it's enough to cover the hospital bills."

"nah, sis. Look behind you." Wendy points at the hospital building. "do you think your money is enough? It's a big ass building." She groans. "where are we gonna live as well?"

"what are we gonna do, then?" Winter massages her temples.

"then, you have to trust me on this. I'll find a way."

"don't do anything stupid, please." Winter warned. "we have to tell her too."

"you can handle that, right? I don't have the guts to tell her."

-

Winter and Wendy stays at the hospital while Karina has gone home because Winter told her to. The mother is currently sleeping while the two daughters are still thinking on how they'll get more money.

"I got the job." Wendy informed, looking at her phone.

"what job?" Winter looks at Wendy's phone as well.

"a job that can get us more money." Wendy raised an eyebrow. "just trust me. it has a high risk but we have to pay for this, right?"

"I don't want you to work with those drug dealers!" Winter whispered.

"shush! I have no other connections, okay? I've been working with those shits since I'm out of the house. I won't do anything stupid." Wendy slaps her head.

"fine. I'll stick to my own job."

The two then hear the mother coughing. Winter quickly stands up and checks on her. soon enough, the nurses come to check on her as well.

"my chest hurts." The mother whined, holding her chest. Looks like she's having a problem breathing.

"take a deep breath, ma'am." One of the nurses put on a gas mask on the mother. "are you comfortable wearing this when you're asleep?"

The mother just nods.

"okay. have a good rest, ma'am. We'll be around the corner if you need us."

Winter sighs in relief. She thought something bad happened.

"are you okay, now?" Winter asked her mother.

"I just want to sleep." the mother smiles at her. "are you guys not going to work?"

"I told my boss already." Wendy replied. "she can work anywhere anytime." She looks at Winter.

"I have a little saving below my bedside drawer. You can use it for the hospital bill." The mother moves her hand to hold Winter's. "I was supposed to save it for something else more important. But, I don't want you both to think about finding more money for me."

"you will get out of this hospital and use that money for something else, okay? we won't use that."

"why not?" Wendy furrowed her eyebrows. "what's more important than this? are you crazy?"

"we can work for this." Winter elbowed the side of Wendy's stomach.

"I give you a permission to use that money. I don't want to see you fight. I'm afraid that those won't be enough, though." The mother chimed in.

"it's alright. We'll work for it, okay? we'll use it if we really need it."
