Lyon was your home and everybody knew it. You chose the team over staying in the states, going to college and over your family so when it was reported that you didn't show up for training and that you wasn't playing in games, the whole world noticed.
It was the Champions league final and you chose to sit out. You wasn't on the bench, instead you were sat in the crowd with Ada. She is the only one that new the real reason why you wasn't playing.
When the season ended, Lyon announced that you were leaving and that your departure was on mutual terms, you laugh as your read their statement.
Choosing your new club isn't an easy choice but you have a preference and when you got the offer from them it made everything a lot easier.
"I can tell you are all eager to continue training so I will make this quick" Lluis told the team "we have a new player joining us today and we believe that she is the player that this team is missing. We are going to wait for her to arrive so that she can introduce herself but I wanted to give you all a heads up"
The announcement came as a shock. As far as the team was aware, they had their team for the upcoming 20/21 season.
"I wonder who it is?" Leila asks.
"I think I have a good idea" Alexia says less than pleased. She had always kept tabs on you, now more than ever. Truth is she admired you but the way Lluis talked about you, the way he made it out like they wasn't good enough with the players they have. That didn't sit well with her at all.
A couple of hours later, you arrive at the training ground and unlike your on pitch persona, you are nervous. This was a new team, one that you haven't exactly seen eye to eye with over the years. You had beaten them in the champions league final and then there was the world cup semi final against Spain.
You get out of your car and walk into the training ground with your manager.
"We will introduce you to the team then we will go sign the contract, take photos you know how this goes" your manager tells you and you nod in agreement.
It is Alexia who sees you first. You make eye contact and send her a smile, one which she doesn't return. Not exactly the warm welcome you are hoping for.
"Girls" Lluis says "this is Y/N L/N, now I know you have all met but this time she is on our side. I expect you all to make her feel welcome".
"Hi!" You say shyly.
"I'm Maria but most people call me Mapi. I'm the person you ran circles around" she said jokingly.
"Well Mapi, I studied you for hours, you are a hard player to play against" you say praising her playing style.
"Can I ask you a question?" Irene asks you and you nod signalling her to go ahead.
"Why did you leave Lyon?" She asks.
"Anything but that" you say as you walk to you next group of players.
The Barca team look at each other. Everyone has been asking why you left and you are yet to share the true reason why.
The rest of them team introduce themselves. Soon there is only one person left, the person you are hoping that you will get along the most with.
"Hi, I'm Y/N" you introduce yourself, something that you always did. You knew that people in the soccer world knew who you were but still it is common curtesy.
"Alexia and you don't need to introduce yourself, everybody here knows your name" Alexia tells you harshly before walking away to get a drink.
You are confused, you try to think of a reason why Alexia would be so short with you but you cannot think of one. Yes, you have played against each other but there were no bad tackles, no wrongful bookings, nothing came to mind.
