Lando's POV
"Mate, what the fuck is wrong with you?" Max exclaims after Daisy stalks out the room, sheets of paper ripped from our hands as I sigh and slouch in the seat, chucking the pen in front of me across the room in frustration. "Why would you do that? That was a great deal! She said everything you would want to hear?"
"I know and so can Fraser! Now it's time to see what she does," I bite back quickly, equally irritated by her parting words as I am by Max's double guessing. "Fraser will say all the right things if he knew we were meeting with her. In fact he did after I told him. Said he would go and talk to Mercedes and Ferrari however, as far as I'm aware, he's done nothing! So... I want to see if I'm getting another empty agent or if I'm getting someone worth having," I tell him seriously, watching realisation colour his face before he shakes his head and sighs.
"She was angry. I wouldn't expect her to endeavour to do you any favours..." he mutters and I chuckle as I agree, wiping away at her jabs towards me, his reminder of her anger doing wonders. She was angry that's for sure... perhaps I had been too quick to dismiss and should have phrased it differently? Well... it's done now. I honestly blanked out... I don't really remember what I said. I'm not very good with finding the right words.
"It will still be action," I tell him and he just sighs as he stands up and we look around the empty room. "I'm sure if we turned around and said yes there's plenty we could do to get an agreement given she's made it clear how bad the agency want this."
"I feel like you're playing with fire, please think this through. Just because you get the agency doesn't mean you'd get the agent," he begs. I dismiss him lightly as we walk through the lobby and see her standing on the front steps just outside the doors, it's clear that she's talking angrily into her phone as she exclaims with her hands. My head tips to the side as I ignore his question, getting distracted at the sight as I narrow my eyes at the sight.
"How did I not see it was her?" I ask him, as we watch her. The way her hands wildly flew as she put away her phone and spoke to Lena reminded me so much of watching her talk to me when she was angry after school all those years ago. Right now... it was like I was staring directly into the past.
Neither of us had it particularly easy, we stood out in classes but in particular she did. So often we'd get home, throw our bags down and she'd immediately move into a flying rant, her voice thick with her Italian accent and she had the hand gestures to go with it. When she was really angry - which was quite often - she'd end up speaking to me in fluent Italian as if I understood while I tried to find the snacks that my mum had tried to hide from us.
Eventually she would calm down and in the process, pull me away from whichever incorrect place I was looking. Her tiny ineffective hands would curl around the material of my school shirt as she would drag me towards wherever she had correctly identified that the sweets were. She was always amazing at finding the best food and whenever she was around or we went out, I quickly learnt it was always better to order what she did. It was like a superpower. We'd quickly open packets of whatever she'd found before we sat on the floor next to where we found them, desperate to eat as much in the limited time we have before my mum found us. It seemed as I looked at her now that while her hair was less fiery and her accent completely English... she was still a full blooded Italian.
"I don't know... I knew immediately but I guess I saw her a few years ago?" Max muses as we watch her talking to Lena before bouncing down the stairs and getting into the taxi that just turned up, her assistant looking vaguely panicked at her boss's reaction.
"You what?" I ask him, my head snapping away from the sight of them getting into the car as I stare at him like he's grown a second head. "You saw her?"
