Lando's POV
"You two are so fucking annoying!" These are the words that immediately greet us as we step into the warehouse that's being used for the Quadrant shoot we have come straight from the airport for. The attention of everyone inside shifts towards us as a result of the words. Naturally, Max was the first one to spot us and his words were evidence of this. I can feel Daisy's laughter without having to look for her as our mutual best friend crosses the floor to either yell or congratulate us. It seems that he's not sure either when he stops in front of us and glares at our intertwined fingers, both comfortable that this was a situation in which we were totally in control. It's only a couple of seconds that he's conflicted before he wraps an arm around each of our necks and pulls us into a tight hug. "Oh thank God!"
Before he pulls away there's already a crowd of a few people around us as Daisy's amusement dies down a little bit and she looks a little on the spot with all their questions. I try and take control of the answers, my arm around her shoulders as I check with her that I'm correct each time. She nods in agreement or adds further comments before eventually, the director gets annoyed that no one is working and pulls everyone back to their stations.
"For real though... thank you," I say to Max as he comes with me towards the wardrobe area to help talk me through the planned shoot and the concept which for once, I wasn't part of planning. "It's been... unlike anything else and I wouldn't have gone for it without you knocking some sense into me," I explain as I sit down in the makeup seat and his eyes light up as he sits on the makeup desk. I instantly felt brushes and hands dancing over my skin to try and help get me ready for the filming but I pushed the tickly-ness out of my mind as I look at my friend.
"Yeah? Ah, I'm glad... hopefully, it'll just be easy now right?" He asks and I shrug as I look past him, into the reflection in the mirror where I can see Daisy and Ria laughing in the background as they flick through her phone.
"I'm not sure about easy... but it'll be worth it and we're doing it," I tell him confidently and he grins happily. After catching up on how his trip to Monaco had been as he continued seeing Valerie a little, we refocused on what he needed to tell me for the shoot, fortunately keeping it short and sweet. While Martin's concert and the activities which followed afterwards helped push our bodies into the right timezone, I was exhausted which was made more obvious as the day went on and I was quite clearly losing my mind. I didn't normally find video shoots difficult, it wasn't like this was my first time but God... today was not the one. After it dragged on for about two hours longer than it should have needed to, Daisy, Max and I all pile into the G-Wagon that Daisy is now apparently obsessed with and finish the journey back to my flat in the city centre.
Once there Daisy and I quickly notified Max that as much as we loved him - and we did a lot - we were going straight to sleep. That was promptly followed by laughter as Daisy seemed to momentarily forget everything that had happened in the last two weeks and tried to walk into what was now the guest room. I looped one arm around her waist, watching amusedly as she turned to glare at me, still not realising her error before I picked her up and carried her backwards across the hallway to my room, Max's laughter helping to make her realise her mistake as she goes bright red and bursts out in laughter as well.
We re-emerge 14 hours later, jet lag gone along with most of the day as we sit down with Max and finally catch each other up on everything. I had thought it was going to be me and Daisy telling Max everything but halfway through that got turned around and I was listening to them explaining how he'd been offered to be the reserve driver for Mercedes. This was obviously beyond fantastic news so once that was said and all other questions he'd had were answered, we decided that the only route forward was obviously to go to dinner. The next few days were spent like that, waking up with Daisy in my arms and falling more in love with every day that passed. It was pathetic but somehow being back in our normal life and our every day was making it better. It was because it became more real and each day was further proof that it wasn't a dream that I could have woken up from, it wasn't fading even as reality came creeping in. No, each day it was getting more and more real and that made it so much better. Eventually, we all made it back to Monaco to relax and enjoy the end of the break without any more McLaren meetings.
