Daisy's POV
"What's going on here?" Lando asks, his hand reaching out to rest on my bare shoulder blade and it takes everything in my body not to jump out of my skin at his presence, let alone his contact. He'd appeared out of nowhere and I had to remind myself to stay calm, as I'd been doing every time this happened for the last week. I was incredibly tired from the night before still, Max, Val, Ollie, his wife, Lisa, Damon, Lando and I had all gone out clubbing last night and it had not quite gone as I'd planned.
It had been a long and confusing week and while we never addressed what happened on Tuesday night directly so I was still extremely confused. I'd have understood if we didn't talk about it and then things went back to normal but they didn't. Well, technically they did... but they also didn't. It's difficult to explain but it's as though the way he was looking at me was different, the places that he was choosing to touch me... the fact that he stayed in my bed each night. Every night... but I never wanted to address it.
I never wanted it to stop.
I wasn't sure I believed my own perception though because I knew it wasn't just the looks or the words that made it feel like he was flirting with me. It was how it was making me feel. His hand on my knee as he drove, or on my waist as we walked a little behind everyone else. Each night we'd go to bed separately and each night, he'd creep into my room to find me awake before crawling into my bed and holding me. I might have done it unconsciously on the first night but there was no doubt in my mind that he knew what he was doing. Eventually I realised that I was just waiting for him to come, used to the routine after just a few nights as we never spoke a single word about it each night or each morning. However, I couldn't help the way my stomach flipped when Lando would slide out of bed each morning, sending me a smile right before he slipped out of the door each time. The pillows stayed between us but either way, for just a few hours each day, we could pretend that we weren't both alone.
On Thursday when we were in the pool to cool down in the height of the heat, as we were chatting to Max, I could have sworn that he purposefully kept brushing his fingers along my legs. This was frustrating for several reasons but mainly because it stopped me from cooling down as I had intended when I'd first entered the pool. I'd been overcome with the heat and eventually fled to the air conditioned room to cool down in more ways than one. It had been a week of this but last night had really been the icing on the cake of confusion.
I'd put on my little black bodycon dress, the halter neck resulting in a deep v-neck and with my regular necklace stack meaning that eyes were naturally drawn down to my chest as well as my hair in a high ponytail and my makeup and jewellery perfect, I was feeling hot. I felt good and I was beyond ready to go out and do something dumb with a stranger, hoping that it would mean that when Lando's hands grazed my legs as he drove with me in the passenger seat then it wouldn't have the same all consuming effect.
Lisa had called a club earlier in the day to let them know that we were coming with Lando so when we all get out of the car to enter the beach club, it's smooth sailing into the club. As always, Lando helped me out of the car and although it wasn't unusual, especially when I was in heels, I felt weirdly on display because of how much attention was on me because of the cameras that had come to the club as well as the line of fans and people trying to get in themselves.
"Head up," Lando whispers comfortingly in my ear before helping me out the car, one hand over my stomach to stop me from walking away without him as he closed the car door behind us. His hand placement wasn't helping with my red cheeks or my heart beating out of my chest but I just nodded and waited, feeling him bring me closer to him as he waited for Max and Val to get out the car. Some of the fans were screaming for Lando's attention and while he waved, he never took his hands off me as we walked towards the front door. Smiles were given and attention was given sparingly but he never wavered from being glued to my side.
