Lando's POV
It felt good to get everything that had tortured me overnight off my chest the moment I woke her up. Daisy didn't quite have the reaction I wanted her to have but she was hungover and she also didn't have a bad one during either of my attempts to talk today - she was just focused on making sure that I was ready and in the best headspace to do my job. She was busy doing her job. Like always. I was aware that I didn't completely get that same level of honesty back from her but it didn't really bother me. I'd said my piece and she would say hers when she was ready or whenever I triggered her out of it.
All in all, the conversations had put us in such a good place that the first thing I did when I got out of the car in Monaco was search for her because I'd done it! I'd brought my car home in the points and further ahead than I'd started in Monaco just like she'd said I would. It took me looking around desperately after seeing Jon for him to pipe up and remind me that she was busy doing the follow up with Sky on their post race show.
My disappointment was apparent as I retreated a little into my shell and took my cap to hide whatever awful thing is bound to be happening to my hair. Before any cameras could capture this though, Jon pulled me towards the very happy McLaren team who were busy celebrating an important double points finish at the biggest race of the year. It wasn't a win but it was as good as this shit box was going to manage.
Forty minutes later and I was on my way back to McLaren after doing an extended interview with F1 TV when I finally saw her distinctive hair standing out in the still crowded paddock, alongside the Sky presenters. I didn't realise that they were live until I got closer but at this point my decision had already been made and I was too giddy to stop now. It was like the moment I saw her I relived all those positive emotions and I just wanted to draw her into them and share them with her that very second.
I knew I'd been seen in the background by the camera so there was no reason to change my mind now. I loop one arm across Daisy's waist and whisk her off her feet, spinning her around. I think she could immediately tell it was me because she didn't fight it in the slightest, instead she let out a heavenly giggle and hugged me back, the only reward I had been looking for since I finished the race. I felt like a kid again, the only difference was it only took one arm to loop around her petite waist to lift her compared to the two I used to need due to my lack of height and muscle. Now it was switched on us.
"Let's go Daisy! Daisy is okay!" I half yell, half sing as I stop spinning her around.
"Landini!" She cheers when I carefully place her back on her feet, suddenly seeing Natalie and Jensen were laughing along with us as I grin sheepishly and try to escape without yet another interview. I'm unsuccessful as Natalie quickly moves onto the other side of me to stop me from finding my escape.
"Good job today! You seem happy," Natalie comments and I shrug.
"Not as happy as Max is I think," I say humbly and Daisy immediately elbows me in the side. "Ow - stop that Daisy."
Her death stare is ruined by the smile on her lips as she turns her attention to Natalie. "You happy with him Daisy?" Natalie asks and she immediately cringes, covering her face with both hands including the one holding the microphone as I let out a booming laugh and put one still sweaty arm around her shoulders. The fireproof had dried out but I knew that it did not smell good, the look on Daisy's face showed that well enough.
"Yes although you slowed down when you got to Max!" She chastises me and I laugh, relinquishing my arm as I look at Natalie and Jensen and agree with the statement. I fiddle with the microphone as I check Daisy who seems relaxed as she waits to hear what I say. It was easy to talk to her, especially as I hadn't had the chance to debrief with her like I'd gotten used to doing so I just tried to do that.
