Lando's POV

"So... uh... what now?" She asks softly, pulling away just a little and I can't help but grin like the cheshire cat as I don't let her actually step out of my arms, too giddy that she's there voluntarily in the first place. Her cheeks are pink, flushed from the passion and lips swollen as I'm sure mine are as well. I can taste the honey from the lip balm she had on my lips, the sweetness only part of the reason that I didn't want to part in the first place.

Her yes was replaying in my mind like the world's best soundtrack and I was half convinced that the moment I stopped holding her that she was going to freak out on me. I couldn't actually believe how quickly she had folded and God... her words were like music to my ears, almost as heavenly as the feeling of her lips on mine.

God, I sound like Max.

"Uh... anything you want. There is food still warm in the oven if you want it," I tell her, my own voice soft, as though my brain was subconsciously trying not to startle her. I lift one hand away from her waist to motion to the corner of the room that I'm referring to and her eyes follow it but just for a moment before I bring it back to her face. My thumb tracks a path across her cheek, nose and lips before down her neck, all of it somehow making the air in the room feel a little bit heavier. We're both paused and in the absence of knowing what else I'm meant to say now, I just continue talking. "It's mac and cheese..."

"Fuck yeah!" She exclaims happily and I chuckle as I reluctantly let her pull herself out of my arms and walk towards the oven in question. Her outfit, while stylish and quite literally mouth watering as it accentuates the soft curves below the material, becomes cute the second she puts the oven mitts on to pull the hot dishes out of the oven and carefully bring them over to the table. I follow her with a couple of cans of Coca Cola and sit down carefully next to her, just keeping the edge of the table between us.

There's a couple of moments of silence where we look at each other, neither saying anything and I think it's because there's a moment of realisation. She might have been momentarily distracted by the news of pasta but her fingers brushing over her lips on the way to push some hair behind her ear is the best sign to me that she is still remembering what just happened. What's just been said.

I freeze as I sit there, crossing my legs in front of me and look at her patiently, looking for any more signs as to what is going through her head. There's a momentary frown as she looks down at her lap but it's there for barely a moment before she lifts her head up, a smile painted clearly on it that makes my heart skip a beat.

She's happy - or at least she's trying her best to not let her insecurities ruin this and I appreciate it so much because I know how loud those voices are in her head. She bites down nervously on her lower lip as she copies how I'm sitting. We're sitting just around the edge of the table on the floor and she takes off her shoes as she gets comfortable and I realise that it's my turn to copy her.

"So..." I say when all is said and done and she's pulled one of the blankets on the ground over her lap and looks at me once more.

"Yeah?"

"I... er,food?"

"Yeah..." she seems so shy as we each take one of the bowls of one of her favourite foods and puts it in front of herself. The silence is painful as we both look at our food and I take a bite putting it in my mouth as a way to distract myself from how awkward it is until I realise I've fucked up. The food is straight out of the oven and my mouth is burnt the second I put the large forkful of food in my mouth. Immediately my eyes begin to water as I open my mouth and use one hand to fan the food that's too hot in my mouth. If I was alone I would spit it back out but that definitely doesn't feel like an appropriate thing to do now of all times and so instead I do the dance that everyone does when they burn their tongue, immediately drinking some of the water that's in front of us in an attempt to minimise the damage and pain.
