Daisy's POV
The chalet was incredible, everything was modern and yet homely. I couldn't imagine how magical it would be in the winter with a wood fire to warm you all the way through to the bone. I could imagine lying right here on the sofa with the fire crackling and Lando's arms wrapped protectively around me as we saw the snowfall.
Wait, Lando's what?
"DAISY!" Lando's voice carries easily through the chalet, the exasperation clear as I have still yet to emerge from my room to go for dinner. Thank God for it because otherwise, I was getting a little distracted by my own thoughts of this place at Christmas. This is now the third time he's called my name and each time he does, I can hear the annoyance growing. Annoying Lando is one of my favourite past times and I reckon it will be for as long as I'm lucky enough to keep him around. Even his sarcastic grimace when he pretends to tell me off provides me with more joy than anyone else's real smile can. The look in his eyes of frustration, as he tries to tell himself to stay calm, is by far the best because he's as patient as a saint. He is a saint, he has always been a saint, so protective and keeping me safe from everyone and everything, including myself.
"ONE SECOND!" I yell back for the third time, knowing full well that I will not be just 'one second' but many more than that. My makeup is finished and I'm in my clothes but I'm still busy curling my hair and I'm only halfway through doing it when he finally loses the patience I was just mentally praising him for and bursts through the door of my room. It's the first time I've seen him since I escaped following our nap/cuddle on the couch when we first arrived and now he looks significantly better than the sleepy dumb look that had been on his face at first when I had gotten up.
The black button-up shirt is unbuttoned probably one button too many to reveal two necklaces/chains around his neck. His hair was styled perfectly and the rings on his fingers were what brought my attention to his forearms which had been revealed by the sleeves which were rolled up. The F1 gossip pages would go feral if they could see him now. F1's most eligible bachelor - perhaps one of all sport's most eligible bachelors. He was the type of handsome that made me forget which way was up, which was probably the issue.
"Ow! Jesus Christ!" I curse as the searing pain pulls me out of my distracted glance at him in the mirror had caused me to drop my hand which meant the curling iron was holding ended up burning my neck just below my ear.
"Oh shit, are you okay?" He asks, the annoyance dropping off his face so quickly that I wonder if it was there in the first place. He crosses the room in just a few short steps as I gingerly put the wand down and touch my neck carefully, seeing the red mark getting darker by the second, the tingling a strangely familiar one to the type I normally feel in my fingers. "God, you're so clumsy."
"Aren't you meant to be nice to me right now?" I hiss back at him, hitting away his hands that are trying to reach out to my injury to stop him or me from infecting it. Instead, I pull out the small first aid kit that I keep with my makeup when I travel to find some Savlon cream, tentatively covering the injury while clamping down my jaw so that I don't react too much.
"Maybe but you're so late right now that you're getting concerned mixed with 'we're thirty minutes late for dinner already' frustration," he explains, words almost nice as I take a deep breath and try and push the stinging pain to the back of my mind but I can't help my eyes tearing up slightly. I knew I was behind schedule and now I was just making us more late. "Aw, no please don't cry, what can I do?"
The easiest way to panic Lando is to cry and while there is an evil voice in my head telling me to go for it as payback for him being inconsiderate right now, I push that away because he's not wrong. I was late and he did tell me what time I needed to be ready with plenty of time to go - I'd just spent too long agonising over something to wear and it had sent everything else back in time as well.
