Daisy's POV
After a few hours of Max watching me I'm mentally begging for Lando to come back. Not necessarily because I want to see him but because Max's attempts to entertain me largely consist of telling me stories about his recent dating disasters. As much as I love Max, and I really do, the stories are quite literally the only thing making a broken rib seem like no big deal. I just hummed through most of it, my fingers itching for my phone or something to distract me but a quick scan of the area around me showed there was no phone to locate. Actually, I hadn't seen it since before the crash. I think that answered the question but I interrupted Max anyway, asking him in a bid to get him to stop talking about the blonde model with no personality.
"Er... no, no idea where it is. Do you want food yet?" He asks, redirecting the conversation away from where my missing limb is. I frown, frustratedly pushing myself up in the bed a little bit because I really wanted my phone, or iPad, or quite literally anything.
"If I say yes do I get a phone?" I retort and he hums.
"LANDO, IF DAISY EATS SOME FOOD DOES SHE GET A PHONE?" Max yells, making me jump out of my skin as I look at him wide eyed, wanting to take it back quickly.
There's just silence from the rest of the flat, both of us waiting to hear a response with different levels of anxiety, my stomach flipping in a guilty way as I remember the look of betrayal in Lando's eyes when I told him to leave. The silence is so loud that I begin to wonder if he's gone out but just when Max and I look at each other as though to conclude that must be the case, he suddenly appears in doorway, sweaty and topless for some reason as he stands in his shorts and with a heart rate monitor belt around his bronzed chest, trainers and socks still on. His sudden appearance at the door is strange and only made stranger by the state of him as he pulls an earphone out of his ear, leaning against the door while looking at me for just a moment before redirecting his attention to Max. It didn't matter that it was brief, the look in his eyes as he checked over the state I was in was enough to make me feel like the whole world was watching.
I'm distinctly grateful for their being no heart rate monitor here right now because I think it would painfully expose me.
"You yelled?" He asks nonchalantly, still not looking at me while I find my entire body willing him too. It doesn't matter that I don't deserve it as Max looks between us like a puppy caught between it's two owners, both of whom are holding treats. I can't properly find it in myself to look at Max though, too hypnotised by his damp curls to speak for myself as my cheeks go slightly red when I realise what thoughts I'm having and who it is that I'm having them about.
That's the wrong box Daisy... now more than ever.
"Daisy asked if she ate food then could she get a phone?... ideally her phone but I don't actually know where that is," he repeats the earlier sentiments after a moment of looking between us. I can barely hear the words as I pull the blankets on the bed around me, looking for some type of shield when Lando finally looks over at me again, using his t-shirt to wipe the sweat off his forehead. I try not to get too distracted but can't help but notice him licking his lips as his head tilts to the side and I can see the sweat drip off some of his hair and onto the floor. I should be annoyed but being annoyed at Lando is like being angry at a puppy.
"Er... yeah, as long as it's something substantial. We don't have your phone though, I don't think I've seen it since the accident actually but you can borrow mine and I'll order you a new one to come as soon as possible," he shrugs, crossing his arms before leaning back against the door frame. "I couldn't finish whatever you were making before so we don't have anything unless we order it," he says, eyes looking back towards Max and I follow his gaze to look at the Brit in between us.
