Daisy's POV
Lando had been weird since New York. Not really weird... just a little bit off centre. He didn't do what I had come to expect although nothing was particularly different. He stopped waking me up at stupid times each morning, choosing to meet me downstairs for breakfast. Instead of hanging out in the evenings just the two of us, we were joined by a myriad of people and rather than chilling before each session in his room, he kept busy with extra media duties or phone calls with his family - leaving me in the paddock with little else to do than talk to people which wasn't the worst. I made some connections, worked a little more than I usually did during a race weekend but it wasn't the worst situation in the world given I was being brought into several contract negotiations with Jude and Mason.
It all came to a head as I was getting ready to go to Martin's show after the race in Montreal though. I'd made plans to have a good night and I was beyond ready to dance the night away until I got a message that annoyed me more than I thought possible.
Sorry. Can't come tonight. Don't want to get between you and Lando, have fun though - Max V
Before I know what I'm doing, I leave my room, only half ready as I cross the hallway and go upstairs to the suite he's got booked and is currently getting ready in. I don't even know what I was feeling but none of it was particularly positive as I banged so hard on Lando's door I think it's almost off it's hinges.
There are a few seconds after I stop banging on the door and by the time Lando opens the door, my red hot rage has simmered slightly and as tears were brought to my eyes, the sight of him half ready as well, a button up shirt not buttoned up properly and clearly only thrown on when the banging begun.
"What's wrong?" He asks in a look of shock and surprise and it only serves to make the blood in my veins boil even further. He ushers me into the room as he asks this question and I let him but only because I don't want anyone to over hear the yelling as I walk further still into the mini apartment. Once I'm confident I'm in the centre and there's plenty of space built in between us and any other guests that might be nearby, I let loose.
"What's wrong with me you're asking? Are you serious?! What's wrong with you!" I yell, my fingers quickly running through my hair as I realise that I've still got the clips in to hold it back off my face, mid doing my makeup.
"I don't understand what's happening?..." he says slowly, hands up almost defensively as he keeps his hands up protectively which makes sense because I am particularly Italian with my rage infused body language.
"What did you say to Max?" I hiss, watching his face morph quickly from confusion. There's a wince at the accusation before the guilt shows, meaning that I absolutely got this right. Max didn't have some realisation all by himself but was talked into whatever that message was about by the driver stood in front of me right now.
"I-what? I don't know what you're talking about..." he trails off, his words so unsure as he lowers his hands, as though getting himself ready to accept whatever attack is headed his way. While I was yelling his words were quiet and riddled with guilt. He also knows that he is just baiting me further though because he reaches to switch the TV on and turn it slightly louder, so no one will be able to hear whatever insults are headed his way momentarily.
"You are such a liar! I don't know what the hell is wrong with you?!" I scream, trying my hardest to stick by the couple of week old promise to have this argument in English so that he can understand.
He looks around before responding, as though gathering his thoughts to make one final attempt to calm me down, however I already know he's not convinced by his own words or sentiments as he steps away from me. "I was just being careful... I was worried about you jumping into something so soon after Luke! We're friends am I not allowed to worry?" He asks earnestly but the words only set me up for more anger.
