Lando's POV
My questions over Daisy's whereabouts on Thursday are gone as I finish media and sit on my phone, waiting for the message from Lena to let me know that Daisy is here. That had led to me going on Instagram to like McLaren's photos and others before seeing her story come up first. I quickly and addictively pressed on it before feeling sick to my stomach as it turns almost constantly, the social media story of Daisy in Luke's arms setting it off immediately. The caption 'ride or die' was typed in next to her as I assume they enjoy what was a sunny day in New York. At least I knew why she hadn't told me where she was going today. The only thing I was left confused about was why she had an appointment at Renfield at some point and also... why the fuck had she not told me anything? I had tried not to let it bother me but I'd by lying if I said that I was at all successful.
Instead I'd spent the day trying to correct the misconceptions about the basketball game between answering questions about how the car might react in Miami after managing to score decent points in Baku. But it was a long day and now I just wanted to talk to Daisy. I needed to just talk to Daisy. I needed to ask her what the hell was going on, why was she with Luke and why does she have an appointment with a rehab facility all the while assuring me that everything was okay?
"Don't flip out," Lucy tries to calm me as she walks into my hotel suite like she owns it. Over the space of the day we had a decent amount of fun between fighting fires on the stories of Daisy being an ungrateful guest last night while also doing some work generally. Now though, she was looking at her phone as she falls on the sofa next to me, Instagram open to let me know that she had seen what I had as well.
"Why is she with him... this is so frustrating!" I groan, tapping the side of my head with the phone, now locked as I try once more to not obsess over it and Lucy just chuckles. The bleach blonde was clearly amused by my frustrations as she puts her phone down and turns to me.
"Because she loves him... I don't get it but and you're not going to like this but I don't know. He's not always been the worst. He used to be quite nice... when I met her she was blonde... she embraced her natural hair once more after he encouraged her to. He made her see the natural beauty she held, that's why she barely wears makeup. Then his dad really is an asshole, like mental abuse levels of asshole behaviour and despite all that... other than the cheating he's actually... not awful," Lucy sighs, the newer information hitting me with a level of surprise I hadn't anticipated. Daisy wasn't particularly forthcoming but I guess it wasn't a surprise, I didn't make myself seem keen to listen. This was the first time that Lucy wasn't totally slating him. "And when you think about the drugs... well he's as much of an addict as she is. I hate him for tempting her back down the rabbit hole with him but it's a disease. If I have compassion and empathy for her dealing with it... I need to try and bring the same energy for him."
"Shush, I was enjoying blindly hating him," I grumble as I glare at her and she laughs, the energy infectious as she looks through her lashes at me. I look to change the course of conversation as quickly as possible, not thinking through my words as I get distracted by her blonde hair, shiny under the fluorescent lighting. "Anyways, is it a rule that everyone at your work has to be impossibly attractive?"
"First off - I'm taken. Second, are you saying that Daisy is attractive?" She asks me back, her red lips curling into a smile, sitting up straighter, instantly turning the question on its head as I try and process the words quick enough to deny them.
"I was not hitting on you. I know you have a boyfriend... and Daisy is Daisy. I cannot wait for her to hear you call her Daisy. She's going to flip," I joke and Lucy glares at me as she realises her slip up. Shaking her hair out lightly as she smooths down her dress.
"Good avoidance of the question," she responds after another moment and I roll my eyes as I turn to face her a little more, actually contemplating what she's saying.
