70 ~ A Winning Combination

Daisy's POV

"Come in," I call out to the knock at my door, expecting Valerie to come and check on my stitches as she had suggested she would do this morning but when the door opens, it's not Valerie that looks into the room but Lando. His eyes search around the room for a second to locate me before seeing where I'm sat in bed and instantly covering his eyes with his hand when he sees that I'm sat in a bralette, sheets covering my lower body. In his surprise he also goes to close the door but without moving, he ends up hitting himself in the face.

"Ow! Fuck!" He cries out his hand moving from covering his eyes to protecting where he's just hit his forehead and I fail to stop my laughter as I make my way out of the bed and towards where he's standing in the door way still.

"What did you do that for?" I giggle as I take his hand away from his head, checking the already reddening mark on his forehead as he looks a little dazed by what happens and lets me without any fight.

"Well thank you for asking because I obviously did it on purpose," he says sarcastically and I snort again before the giggles really make a comeback and I replay it all over again in my head, my laughter only getting more hysterical as I do. "Stop laughing," he whines, pouting as I struggle to breathe, the whining only making the whole thing funnier to me as he pushes my hands off his forehead and rubs it. I'd be worried he was serious but the pout quickly transforms into a sheepish smile as he sees the tears begin to form in my eyes.

"Oh I'm s-sorry, b-b-but, y-you- y-your face and the d-door," I wheeze out between bursts of laughter until he pushes me backwards and into the room a little more, walking past me and towards the mirror on one side of the room to check that he's fine. "F-fuck!" I impersonate him as I try to calm my giggles and when he stands back up straight to glare at me, I can see he finds it a little amusing too. It takes me a few more moments to remember why his eyes were covered in the first place as I realise I'm just in a pair of shorts that I used earlier to do my stretches on the balcony before having a nap. Even as his eyes took me in and realised that I wasn't totally naked, I didn't feel on display, just a little embarrassed as I reached out for the discarded tank top that I'd taken off as I slept and put it back on to cover my stomach. "I'm so sorry but that was fucking funny, are you okay?" I check, still sort of laughing as he rolls his eyes and nods to let me know that he is.

"Laugh first, check second," he accuses me but he's not mad as he walks over to the balcony doors and I just watch him go, still giggling to myself when he turns back around and so I salute him.

"That's the best friend code," I remind him gleefully and he chuckles and shakes his head but doesn't disagree as he motions for me to follow him onto the balcony. "Is everything good? I was just expecting Valerie to come and do the fun little check ups that we have," I explain as I walk towards him and look towards the now closed door as though expecting her to appear any second now.

"I, uh, said she was good to skip it, as long as you're okay?" He explains before doubling back to check with me on the last bit and I look at him in surprise but nod anyway. I was fine, I just wasn't expecting it because so far, Valerie had woken me up every single time she needed to check on me, to varying levels of my own annoyance. At least she was funny and would chat to me about anything while I was sat awkwardly letting her feel my abdomen. Before I could ask why she suddenly lost that work ethic, he points down over the balcony and towards the pool. When I lean over a little to see where down by the pool Valerie and Max are lying on a single sun lounger together talking and laughing.

"Ahhh..." is all I say when I see it, a soft smile coming over my face. Max's stares weren't exactly subtle and when I hadn't been busy talking about myself, I found I was normally answering Valerie's questions about Max. Normally people asked about Lando but no... she wanted to know about Max. I was far from pushing them together but it's cute to see that it is materialising into something rather than just staying internalised... that's just crazy. "They're so cute."
