▪︎Xena's pov:

We walked around and looked for a box.

We had no idea what it looked like or where it was kept, so we were going everywhere searching for a box. I had to use my glowing eyes to look through the dark areas as we didn't bring any torch with us. We do have our phones but its light was too dim.

Moreover, a few bats were hanging in the corner and I didn't want to disturb them with my light.

"Found it," I heard Travon say.

We left our spots and approached him. He was holding a small wooden chest in his hands. That's not a box.

"Hmm brother, I think you are misunderstanding words here... We said a box, not a wooden chest." Clayton pointed out.

"I know we said a box but we are talking about a witch living on unclaimed lands. Only old witches live here... Do you really think, she has a fancy box?" Travon pointed out.

He might be right.

"Let's check inside," I suggested.

As he was holding it, I opened it.

Like Silas said, there were a few old papers and maps.

"That's it," I confirmed.

Travon looked at his brother smugly making Clayton's shoulder drop.

"This dumb witch needs to go back to school again," he commented.

We chuckled.

I took out one of the papers.

"What language is that?" Travon asked, trying to read what was written.

"I have no idea but Silas will be able to translate it," I answered.

"Did you hear that?"

We turned to Elijah. He was standing by one of the window openings and he was staring outside. Since we were engrossed with the box, we didn't notice when he moved away from us.

"What?" I asked him.

"Footsteps," he responded.

Clayton went near him while I put the paper back in the chest, closing it. It stayed in Travon's hand.

"I can hear it," Clayton added.

"Could it be an animal?" I inquired.

"No, it sounds like human steps." Elijah elaborated.

Using my hearing, I listened. I could hear the footsteps and it wasn't only one person, it was a group. As we listened to our left side, something crashed on our right side, making all of us turn around.

"That sounded so close," Travon murmured.

"If it's not animals or humans, could it be monsters?" Clayton inquired, sounding a bit nervous.
