▪︎Xena's pov:
We made our way to the cafeteria.
"How about you walk in front of me?" I asked Marina.
She furrowed her eyebrows, "Why?"
"Well I have been the center of attention since the morning and I'm pretty sure it will be the same right now... You will probably get stared at too." I explained.
She shrugged," It's not like I have a lot of friends to worry about or that I have a reputation to maintain. I'm pretty much a loner, so I don't care."
"Really? You don't have friends?" I asked surprised.
It was hard to believe that she doesn't have friends, I mean she is friendly, cute, kinda timid but she is nice...
"I know a lot of people but I'm not close to anyone. I'm pretty awkward at socializing, like did you see how I approach you and rambled?" She said with a small sigh.
"Well, first of all, this problem was a community problem and anyone could have approached me but they didn't since they are scared of me. You did, which shows that you aren't awkward but brave, friendly, and nice... Which is why I agreed to help you. Secondly, we are talking right now and nothing is awkward." I pointed out firmly.
As my words sank in, I saw a small smile appear on her face.
"Thank you for the compliments," she said softly.
"You don't get compliments often?" I asked.
She shook her head, "The community makes me do a lot of things that they can't get to... But I never get a thank you or any compliments."
That's a shitty thing.
"Sorry about that... You should really stop them from making you their puppet." I casually spoke.
We entered the cafeteria.
Letting my eyes roam around, I found the boys by one of the middle tables. I approached them. Again, the stares were there. Elijah was the first one to look toward me.
"Hey," I said, making myself know.
The twin turned to me.
"Took you long," Travon pointed out.
"Yeah... Anyway, guys meet M-"
"Marina," Clayton finished.
Do they know each other?
I looked at Marina who had her eyes slightly widened, "You know my name?"
"Yeah, of course, you are the cute girl that usually organizes the lake party. Can't miss you in the crowd with that hair color, you usually stand out the most. I had to ask about you." Clayton casually spoke.
"Oh," She let out as she blushed.
Travon and Elijah glanced at Clayton before sharing a knowing look.
