It's been three days since you had seen Namjoon at home and there were only a few one-worded texts exchanged in that time frame, solely so that you knew that he was alive. You knew that he'd be back fully tomorrow, but you were starting to become tired of this routine. You were tired of missing him, tired of an empty bed and annoyed at the lack of acknowledgement of anything that you did for him while he was working. You did your best to make everything seamless for him to come and go, but it seemed like he didn't care about anything you were doing. You felt ignored.
I really wish you would talk to me better. I'll see you tomorrow?

You sighed, taking your glasses off placing them on the nightstand before rolling over and going to sleep.
You woke up to the sound of the front door being opened and shut. You assumed it was Namjoon and just closed your weary eyes to fall back asleep. Even though you were happy that he was back, you were drained from his lack of being tangible and any sort of available to you, so when you felt the bed dip down and the warmth of his body next to you, you didn't react and stayed unmoving.
You didn't get up until later in the morning. The bed was empty of course as Namjoon worked even on his days off. You were sure that he didn't get much sleep. It worried you, but there was no changing his habits. You pushed yourself out from under the duvet and blankets, taking a deep breath as your bare feet hit the cold, wooden floor. You lazily scooted your feet to the kitchen to grab a morning snack and water.
"Hey love," Namjoon greeted from his place on the couch.
"Hey," you blandly responded back.
"Sleep well?"
"Yep," you sipped your water staring blankly back at him with your dark, earthy eyes.
"That's it? Is something wrong?" He asked, confused at your sudden coldness.
"I don't know what could possibly be wrong Joon?" You ask monotonously.
You hated being like this, but his ignorance to your feelings has gotten to the point of no longer caring about how you come across. Maybe not the point of not caring about his well-being and feelings, but enough to not care about your responses.
"You hungry?" You asked before he could counter your question.
"I'm fine darling," He replied back, "I ate earlier."
You nodded and snacked on the breakfast bar that you had pulled out of the pantry. The air felt kind of heavy, but it seemed that he didn't care enough to inquire any further on your cold shoulder and bland responses, so until the both of you are suffocating, you'll continue.
The day went by with hardly any exchanges. The very basics of checking if either of you needs anything. It hurt to be so distant from him when he was ten feet away, but you weren't letting him get away with his cycle of ignoring you almost entirely when had projects and important work tasks to do. It would be completely understandable if he only communicated when had time, but he didn't even do that and your heart was weary from the longing whenever he would leave.
All of this went on for a few days before he started becoming noticeably confused and concerned about your behavior. He never asked outright why you were being cold so you continued it until he grew a pair to ask what he's done or why you're acting the way you are.
It finally all clicked for him a day before he needed to leave for his next work trip and you didn't seem to care that he was leaving when you'd normally be all over him and begging Namjoon to not leave you alone again.
"I'm leaving in the morning for work. We're finally finishing this project and I'll be able to be with you more often."
"Oh. Okay. Be safe,"
His face changed from confused to a lightbulb finally lighting in his head.
"Is that what your cold shoulder has been about? Me being away from work."
You whipped your head around to look at him.
"No Namjoon. This is about how you never talk to me when you're away. This is about how you can't even text me that you love me before you go to bed. You can't even say goodnight. I've asked for communication when you can on the days while you're away because I miss you, but you never do and I'm just tired of it," you utter out bluntly, but calm.
"Oh...
"Is that all you have to say?" You ask, raising your eyebrows at him.
"No. I feel mad, but I understand why you did what you did. I failed to meet an expectation and something you've openly communicated to me. I'm sorry that I fumbled that on my end. If you give me the chance, I'll make it up to you and fix my lousy communication when I'm working."
"You said that like I'm going to divorce you over not texting me. I'm not. I'm just tired of missing you and the one thing that can be done to help, isn't being done," you stare at him as he stands there looking for any sign of forgiveness from you, "I forgive you, but if you don't place actions with your words, something is going to change."
Namjoon only nods back before turning around.
"I love you."
He turns back around and walks over to where you're seated.
"I love you too. I'll see you in the morning before I go."
He leans down and kisses you lovingly. You stand up while trying to keep your lips in contact with his. You missed the feel of his touch and gentle lips. Wrapping your arms around his neck you prolong the exchange longer before grabbing his cheeks and peppering little smooches around his face, making sure to end on his lips again.
"Go to bed, I'll join you in a bit after I shower," you say, pushing him towards his bedroom.
He hums in response, smiling as holds your hand before letting go. He felt better and so did you. There was regret and guilt from each party, but you both knew that it would fade over a little bit of time.
