"you're ridiculous, i'm the one who taught you how to play and now you're all tough" said George who was jokingly arguing with Hallie about who was the better Quidditch player.
they both were laid out on a picnic blanket in a patch of green grass.
the snow had begun to melt enough for you to see grass, and the sky (which, for the first time in a while) was a bright blue, the sun beaming out overhead. many students out enjoying the heat.

Hallie lay staring at George, wishing she could run her fingers through his fluffy ginger hair.
oh how badly she wished she could trail his jawline with her delicate fingers, touch his pink lips with her thumb, count each freckle until she could no longer keep her eyes open, she couldn't help but stare. could you blame her? she had the most beautiful boy laying next to her and he had not one clue in the world that one of his closest friends was falling in love with him.

after a long period of silence. Hallie lost in thought, George wondering why Hallie had been so quiet he had said something.
"well, you wanna swim then?" asked George.
Hallie was snapped out of her trance when George looked at her and noticed she had already been staring at him, her cheeks bright red, he assumed it was from the sun. but it had been more than just that.

"uhm okay" Hallie said, a bit flustered after he saw her staring.
they both got up and Hallie had begun to take off her clothes that were over her bathing suit.
she wore a simple two piece dark green suit that. (in Georges opinion) had fit perfectly with her skin and blue eyes, her brown wavy hair thrown messily into a low bun.

Hallie turned towards George who had his bathing suit on, his shirt off, revealing his pale skin and toned abs. Hallies jaw was almost to the floor, she had seen glances of his abs but never without his shirt. she had never had her heart beat so fast, her face was hot and her head was fuzzy, she didn't want to stop looking him up and down.

she awkwardly looked anywhere but him as she began to put on sunscreen.

George looked over at her, his eyes grazing her legs, her hips, her bust and up to her face, she looked so gorgeous. he could barely tear his gaze away until she had begun walking into the water, George watched as she emerged into the water, coming back up with her hair slick and soaking.
he smirked and ran near her, jumping into the water and splashing it everywhere as he cannon balled next to Hallie.

he came up for air and Hallie splashed the cold water onto George.
George smiled as he watched Hallies smile turn into laughter as she swam around, letting the cold water soak her hair and wash over her skin as she swam up and laid on the bay.
George swam over to her, water pooling around them, Hallie kicking her legs to stay afloat.
George laid next to her, he looked to her, her eyes closed, her stray hairs messily soaked and stuck to her skin.
he wanted to reach out, brush her hair off her face, why couldn't these images in his head go away, and why couldn't he just get Hallie out of his mind.

Hallie opened her eyes, looked to her left to see George who laid next to her, his eyes shut as he let the sun beam down onto him.
Hallie smiled, she kicked herself off and began swimming around, floating onto her back and emerging herself deep into the lake.
she swam back to George and splashed him, smirking as he gasped at the ice cold water.

"oh you git!" shouted George as he swam after Hallie who swam away.
"your skin is going to match your hair if you stay like that any longer!" shouted Hallie, water entering and exiting her mouth as she laughed, feeling George reach for her feet, water splashing in his face as she kicked and giggled.
"are you calling me a lobster?!" shouted George, Hallie giggled and continued swimming.

George sped up and eventually grabbed her ankles and pulled her back.
"no!" Hallie shouted as he wrapped his arms around her waist and slammed her into the water, they were now both submerged completely, Hallie gripping tightly onto George's arms, they both swam up to the surface, Hallie coughing and George laughing as she wiped her eyes and wildly splashed him, he put his hands up in surrender, trying to block his face to avoid the cold water.

Hallie swam up to George and tried to grab him, but George was to fast and grabbed her by the waist, he hoisted her up onto his shoulder, Hallie flailed and screamed.
"GEORGE WEASLEY!" she said as George dipped her underneath the water, she gasped as he pulled her back up, he laughed as she gripped tightly onto his skin, her finger nails digging into his skin as he held her as if she was a baby.

she looked at George as he threw his head back with laughter, barely being able to hold onto her.
she stared at him, a smile stretched across her face, she couldn't help but smile at his laughing face, it was just then she realized the way he was holding her, she could feel his skin against her skin. something she had imagined all the time, what she did at night when she laid in bed wondering why she felt this way when she was around George.
she could hardly believe she was physically able to be around him at this point. she wondered how she didn't blurt out "i like you and i think maybe i'm in love with you? i don't know but i'm crazy for you Weasley!"

George had caught her eye and looked at her, they both stared into each others eyes until George had let go and Hallie dunked under the water. she could hear the muffled laughter as she sunk down.
she swam up and gasped, George still laughing. Hallie shoved him then swam up onto the bay.
George still laughing as he clutched at his bare skin. Hallie looked at him as he laughed and toppled onto the bay, his smile so gorgeous, his lips so perfect. she smiled at him as he laid in the wet grass.

she stood up and towered looking over him. he looked perfect lying there in the grass.
what am i doing? Hallie thought as she stared at George, wanting to lean down and plant a soft kiss on his lips, wanting to kiss all over his cheeks, wanting to say how deeply she had fallen for him. her heart ached, it ached for him, for more of his light brushes of his hand against her, his gaze that she could feel by the tingle on the back of her neck.
she hated this, she hated the way she fell so deeply for someone who didn't like her back.

she bit on her tongue and bent down to grab a towel, she wrapped it tightly around herself and began putting on her clothes after drying off.
"where are you going?" George asked after wiping the tears of pure laughter from his eyes, he looked at her through his sopping wet hair as he lay with one hand laid over his stomach.
"sorry, i realized i have homework that needs to be done by tonight" Hallie said very uncomfortably. she wanted to get out of there and cry, cry because she couldn't handle looking at her best friend in the eyes, knowing she sees him more than that.

he's a friend Hallie she kept reminding herself. no matter how many times her heart hurt. he's just a friend. friend.
she quickly began walking away, she felt horrible for just leaving him there, but her eyes began to sting, she hated the feeling, she wanted to crawl out of her own skin, she felt so stupid. how could i fall for my bestfriend.
she thought about how uncomfortable he probably felt when they would catch each others eye. whenever Hallie would stare at him.
she wanted to collapse into bed and cry.

"oh- uh- okay!" George said awkwardly as Hallie was already to far away for her to hear him.
George lay in the grass, staring into the orange sky. he bit at the inside of his mouth, he thought about how great the day was, how could Hallie shift that fast?
he picked at his nails until he got up and began cleaning up and changing back into appropriate clothes for school and walked back to school alone.
