year 7

Hallies pov.

i was on a walk around the school to kill some time when from the inside of the Herbology greenhouse i hear my last name being shouted.
"Mrs. Gold!" i turn around to see Professor Sprout.
"yes Professor?" i ask, walking over to her.
"may i speak with you?" she asks.
"of course" i smile. she invites me into the greenhouse.
"i know this is so sudden but i didn't have any time to send a letter. i'm sorry to interrupt your free period" she apologizes, pulling the gloves off her hands, both covered in dirt.

"no it's okay" i assure her.
"well, i know that tonight you have Quidditch tryouts correct?"
"correct"
"well, ever since Mr. Diggorys passing, we've been struggling between different team captains. i know you and Mr. Diggory were very close." she pauses. looking at me like i'm going to have a mental breakdown, and when i don't she moves on, clearing her throat.
"so, i've taken it upon myself to think long and hard. and i want you to be our captain this year. what do you say?"
i stood there frozen for a second.

"a- are- you sure?" i ask, shocked.
"well Mrs. Gold, i don't think i would be disappointed in my decision of making you our Hufflepuff captain. Mr. Diggory spoke highly of you" she smiled at me. waiting for my answer.
"well.. why not" i laugh. "sure, i'll do it!"
"wonderful!" Professor Sprout cheers.
i think of all the things i'll have too take responsibility for. choosing who joins the team, setting practice times, coaching them and guiding them. the more i think the more it may seem like to much. but, then again, it is my last year.

"well, i hope to see the Hufflepuff team win many games this year" says Professor Sprout.
"yes.. thank you so much" i smile, opening the greenhouse door and leaving.

"so, you really are captain?" George looks up from staring at the foam of his butter beer.
i haven't taken a sip of mine yet because of all this talking. i have so many things to fill George in with.
"yeah.. i can't even believe i said yes!" i laugh, and finally sip some of the sweet drink, which is quite luke warm now.
"honestly—" i swallow the foam still left in my mouth. "it feels extremely strange without you there" i rest my chin on my palm, my fingers curled as i stare at him. he looks different.
i notice the light orange stubble that's growing on his face, and his build, it's gotten bigger, but i guess he's been working out more now. it really feels like we're getting older and i hate it.

"well, what's it like? tell me." George crosses his arms on the table. i take note on the way he looks at me, (how i'm going to freak out over it later, even though we've been dating for four years.) i still can't believe i've found him, and he's found me.

i look around the place and immediately i feel as if i want to sink into my chair because a group of obnoxious guys, who i recognize have just walked into the place, stumbling, clearly drunk.
and worst of all, one of the guys has to be Sebastian.
i quickly avert my gaze. and then i realize we've already made eye contact and i need to answer Georges question and the first thing that pops into my head is to sink into my chair and disappear. but my table is in perfect eyeshot of the whole group.

i grab my drink and chug some, wishing there was real alcohol in this.

"Hallie!" i hear Sebastian's voice because he notices me, he has his arms thrown around some of his friends necks as he approaches me.
"Sebastian..." i say, rolling my eyes. showing no interest.
George looks the guy up and down, he can already tell he's a douche.
Sebastian catches eye of George and smirks. he knows George is my boyfriend, and he looks even more smug seeing him in real life.
i hate this situation, my cheeks i can tell, have definitely gone red because of how hot they are.

i immediately pull off my jacket so i don't start sweating profusely.
"you must be George" Sebastian smiles, leaning into the table. George looks like he's gritting his teeth, his jaw clenched so tight.
"how do you know Hallie?" says George. not answering the question. i'm not going to lie.. he looks hot when he's jealous.
"we've just seen each other around" he smirks at me. his friends are laughing loudly behind him, disturbing the other costumers as they roll their eyes.
George bites on the inside of his cheek as he watches Sebastian closely.

"we don't know each other like that." i say, not even wanting to make eye contact with him.
"oh come on, my asking you out wasn't enough for us to be at least, acquaintances?" he hums.
immediately, Georges eyes are pulled from Sebastian and he's staring at me. im screaming at myself in my head because now it seems like im hiding the fact he asked me out from my own boyfriend. i'm really tempted to punch Sebastian. and get the stench of liquor away from me.

"oh.." Sebastian winces and leans down to me, putting his hand out to whisper into my ear, but George can clearly hear and he's making perfect eye contact with him.
"haven't told the boyfriend yet? yikes" he laughs snobbishly. and then i rise up.
"we're done." i say.
"oh come on, you can do better than this no good muggle. i hear the family is living in a slum!" Sebastian slings his arm over my shoulders. i feel repulsed and before i can move an inch more, i see George push his hands against Sebastian's chest.

he staggers into his friends who fail to catch him, he drunkenly rises up and tries to swing, fails miserably and then George gets to punch him in the jaw and in a flash we're getting kicked out of the place.
it all happens so face i have no time to process.

we're stood out in the snow, the sky is almost dark, the sun has just set and i stare at the heavy breathing George for a long time. not wanting to say a word.

"he asked you out?" he finally says. his words harsh.
"i was going to tell you!" because, i was.
then i'm thinking how George has just solved my problem of so badly wanting to punch the guy. we stand in silence a little longer and then i scoff, and grab George by his leather jacket pulling him in, our lips connect and he doesn't protest, his hands immediately find my face and he's pulling closer, deeper into our wild kiss and then we eventually pull away.

"i'm sorry i didn't tell you" i say, feeling really guilty.
George looks over into the window of the place.
"he really deserved that punch though. thanks." i say, a smile on my face. George looks to me.
"yeah" he agrees, a slight smirk on his face.
"and next time, tell me when a douchebag like him is bothering you.. okay?"
"okay, okay..." i say. and we stand in silence for a second.
"come on, let's go.. before i get in actual trouble" he says, reaching his hand out for me to grab. immediately i do and we both run off.

1308 words.

heyyyyy, yeah... i've been gone for way too long. LISTEN. it's hard to write chapters when the twins aren't there, i'm just going to try and jump through this year but not skip dramatically. anyways, i'm back and i hope to get more chapters out soon! -jane
