Third Person Pov.

the night sky trembles with thunder. the clouds dark, the mark of Lord Voldemort etched into the sky.
down inside of Hogwarts people scatter around in the great hall, tables are pushed against the walls, multiple of dead bodies lie on the floor, some with their loved ones surrounding them. one of those bodies in particular being Fred Weasley. his twin brother George cries next to him, with his girlfriend Sage burying her head into his lifeless shoulder. letting her tears run dry.

Hallie sits on one of the tables, her eyes staring, trained on Freds body, her cheeks stained with her drying tears. she can't peel her eyes away from her lifeless friend, laying a few feet away, along with the other bodies.
when she had seen Fred on that floor, lying there still, she couldn't believe any of it. she searched Sages face for any sign that it wasn't real, but the tears of George and Sage were not fake. the gut wrenching scream that Sage had cried when she fell to her knees and grabbed ahold of Fred's shirt, shouted for him to look at her. but his eyes stayed trained up at the cracked ceiling. it's something that won't ever leave Hallies mind...

Madam Pomfrey works on Hallies arm, stitching up the large gash that has coated her arm in blood, gently wrapping it with a bandage. she places her hand on Hallies shoulder, pulling her from her dissociative state.
"you're all done dear.." she says. her voice soft, her tone saddened.
Hallie nods, not being able to form a verbal response. she can't wrap her mind around the fact Fred is really gone. she can't pull herself to get up and walk over there. she just stares.

she's come to the terms that this war is ending with injustice. that Harry will sacrifice himself and they will all be defeated. as she thinks of Harry she watches him walk through the large doors, his eyes scanning over each body, each lifeless body, finally reaching Fred, he pauses in his steps, not knowing what to do.
Ron and Hermione rush over to the crying family.
Hallie stares at the frozen Harry when he hesitates and slowly begins to turn around, rushing out of the Great Hall like he's on a mission.

Hallie finally pushes herself to walk, she begins to walk over to Sage, there's not much she can do but comfort her friend.
Ron is hugging George and they're both crying as they limply hold one another.
Hallie moves down to her knees and pulls Sages strong grip from Fred's body, she grabs her shoulders and pulls her into her, Sages head hits her shoulder and she begins to sob in Hallies arms. Hallie holds onto her tightly, gently stroking her head, tears beginning to fall softly down her cheeks as her chest aches in pain for her friend, for her boyfriend, for herself... for Fred.
all she can do is hold Sage close until there are no more possible tears to cry. she rests her head on top of Sages curled up shaking body.

this wasn't how things were supposed to turn out she thought.
she had it all planned out in her head. Her and Sage would marry one of the twins, they would always stay in touch, they would have kids and be close to each other, always spending time with one another when they could. their kids would grow up, go to school and they would all grow old, talking about their own days at Hogwarts.
it didn't feel real to be sitting next to a close friends dead body.

as the dawn light begins to pour into the room, illuminating bright light from the sun, making everyone's bags under their eyes more visible.
Hallie hadn't realized that Ron had left until he was walking back inside of the Great Hall doors with Hermione. the both of them looking more saddened then they did a few moments ago if it were even possible.
"it's Harry... he left." Ron says to the family. Mrs. Weasley shakes her head and digs her head into her husbands chest.
Hallie shakes her head. the fight is over and we've lost so much yet gained nothing.. she thinks. all she can do is comfort Sage and accept her new fate, where Voldemort will come and control their lives. it's either that or death. at this point she thinks death would be the better option than following Voldemort.
