year 4.

Georges pov.

"she just up and left, i think she's mad at me" i said, hanging halfway off the Gryffindor Common room couch, Fred sat on the floor next to the fire testing out one of our products which was supposed to punch you whenever you opened the packaging, but it seemed to have malfunctioned.

"you haven't asked her?" Fred said, fiddling with the packaging and pointing it at my face.
i smacked it away and let myself slide off the couch some more. i groaned, running my hands along my face. what was going on with her.
"you're an idiot" Fred said as the boxing glove sprung out and hit the couch.
"well, that works" Fred said, tossing the product into a box next to the couch that was over filling with working ones.
"how am i the idiot?" i sat up, feeling the blood rushing to my head.
"you're supposed to ask her, not ignore her bud" Fred said as he got up and began sweetly talking to a 3rd year and asking him to open the package for him.

i held back my smile a bit.
"Fred stop-" i began until the kid had already fallen for it and got a little smack in the face. he rubbed his red face. Fred profusely apologized and walked back over to me.
"you didn't sound very apologetic" i said. Fred shrugged.
"Fred!" Hermione roared. Fred looked at me with dread.
"you punched that poor kid!" Hermione said.
"just a joke, didn't know it would actually work" Fred shrugged, pointing the package at Hermione, she dodged it by snatching it from Fred.

"that's my cue to leave" i muttered and got up off the couch, sliding past a sulking Ron, a screaming Hermione and an anxious looking Harry.

i exited the dorm room and headed down to the library.
i knew i would either find Hallie or someone who knew Hallie down there. there wasn't really any other place she would be besides her room or Hufflepuff common room.

i entered the library, already getting nasty looks from people who knew me as a loud prankster. i innocently walked to the very back corner of the library to find a curly haired Sage sitting in one of the window seats with a book in hand and a warm lamp overhead for light.
"Pst" i whispered, Sage looked up.
"hey George" she whispered, putting her book down.
"how are you?" i asked, sitting down next to her, the seat was just big enough for two people.
"i'm okay" Sage hummed.
"do you know if Hallie may be mad at me?" i asked suddenly, i couldn't wait any longer, i felt almost a little sick in my stomach at the thought of her being upset with me.

"uhm.. no?" Sage questionably looked at me.
"why?" she looked intrigued.
"well, she hasn't spoken with me in a few days, and it can't just be because of homework" i laughed awkwardly. i was feeling a little anxious. she isn't mad at me? then why is she practically ignoring me. it's like she's distancing from me for some reason.
"would you like me to find her and tell her to talk to you" Sage smiled, finding it a bit humorous.
i nodded eagerly. she closed her book and swung her feet around and stood up.
"i'll tell her to find you" Sage smiled, tucking the book between her armpit and walking off.

Sages pov.

i practically marched my way to the common room. why in the bloody hell was Hallie ignoring George. she was literally head over heels for this guy. and he was clearly the same way back.

i entered the common room and made my way up to my dorm. i knew Hallie would be there since she wasn't in the common room.
i swung open our door, scaring Hallie who was sitting at our desk doing homework.
"why are you ignoring George" i said, walking over and propping myself against the wall, she looked at me a little startled.
"what" she began.
"he just came over to me looking very confused why you weren't talking to him!" i said loudly.

Hallie looked back down at her unfinished homework.
"what's going on" i said a bit calmer, she looked guilty and sad.
i furrowed my eyebrows and sat down on my bed, Hallie moved her chair and faced towards me.
"well.... i just-" she sighed, then continued.
"it's so difficult being around him because.. well.. i've fallen head over heels for him" Hallie said awkwardly. my face softened. of course she was in love with him, how did i not notice her like this over the past few days. she had been a bit quiet.
"Hallie-" i said before she continued.
"i don't want to ruin this perfect friendship with my stupidity coming between us."
i wanted so badly to yell at her because George clearly liked her back, but i refrained.

she had never really liked anyone like this. she had never loved anyone like this.
i know that i had fallen in love with Fred like this, we were both practically in the same boat. i kind of accepted Fred probably would never want me back, Hallie disagrees, she thinks he's fallen in love with me. but i disagree with her.
Hallie sighed.
"i don't know what to do."
"well don't ruin your friendship over it. he's so nice and caring Hallie"
"i physically can't be around him without seeing him more than just a best friend Sage" she said, clearly angry with herself.

i sighed. i didn't know what to say because i would be a hypocrite to say anything with how i am with Fred.
Hallie got up and began putting on her shoes.
"where are you going it's 7pm?" i asked confused.
"a walk" she sounded frustrated. i just accepted it, she needed to clear her head.
i nodded and she exited the room. i sighed and laid back in my bed.

Hallies pov.

i walked around the school in laps, walking by groups of laughing students and teachers.
i wondered to much about George, i needed to stop thinking about him. but how could I do that when i'm completely in love.
i sighed and entered the girls bathroom.
i went inside a stall and sat down, curling my legs up to my chest.
there was an echo of giggles above me and looked up.

"trouble in paradise?" said the perky voice of Moaning Myrtle who laid on her stomach in the air, kicking her feet.
"i guess" i grumbled. not trying to spark up conversation with a ghost.
"at least you aren't dead" said Moaning Myrtle.
that was out of pocket....
i hummed awkwardly.
"who's the guy" she said, hiccuping and giggling.
"my best friend" i sighed, putting my head in my knees. i hated this. i was talking to a lunatic.
"you've put yourself in a lot of trouble there" she said. i hated her perky voice right now.
"no one comes to visit me" she said dreamily.
i hummed in response.
"i wish i had your problems" she said, sounding a bit sad.

i sighed, got up and decided i wasn't going to sulk. al though i wanted to talk to George i decided it would be best to do it when i was in a much better mood tomorrow.
"you're leaving already?" said Myrtle as she flew up next to me, flying a bit above me now, following me as i went to wash my hands and leave.
"bye Myrtle" i said, walking out.
"feel free to visit me again!" she sounded cranky as i left without another word.

1281 words.
