Lost In The Jungle

After taking our showers and eating we decided on staying in the rest of the night. Of course Blue and Yuki teased us about being scared over dinner, but we were good at hiding it. Surprisingly Drey did better than me and Travis. He just kept showing his arms.

We were currently sitting in my tent. I was at my desk drawing cars the way I wanted to build them meaning the engine and the paint job on the outside. Drey was on my bed while Travis on the love sack playing a game of Mario party on the Nintendo switch they got from some tents since they took our phones away.

I had one to but I'd rather draw than play at the moment. I was still freak out a bit about that creature. Even the picture was super creepy. It's skin looking dry and red like the outer layer got pulled off.

Now we have to worry about fog and now this. What else could there possibly be out there?

"What else do you guys think is out there?" Travis asked still focused on the game

"Who knows, probably a chupacabra" I said holding up the mason jar of lightning bugs to get a better look at my drawing

"Chupacabras aren't real Dawn" Drey said slamming his fist on the bed for hitting one on the dice

"So aren't people with powers and fog that kills you. But here we are"

"Have any of you had the urge to go home?" Drey asked

We all fell silent for a moment. No one has mentioned it. To me it was nice to have a break away from everyone and everything. Yes I miss my family but I like it here. Drey put down his Nintendo "I've thought about it. It's weird, I don't really know how to explain it"

Travis sat his down looking at Drey "like you miss your family of course but at the same time it's nice to be here"

"Exactly like that. Of course I miss mom and dad but I feel so relaxed here. No stress"

I turned around "maybe it's something in the air. Like the fog I mean, except it's not bad. Maybe it's making us want to stay here. It's already been a week and look at everything we've accomplished"

"And we have freedom here" Travis added

"And everything is free" Drey added also

We sat in silence for a moment again "do you think they are thinking of us?" I questioned walking over to the bed

"Of course they are Dawn. We're there kids. Plus it's a small town so we're probably famous by now" Drey said looking at his nails "they really need a spa here"

Travis laughed walking over and hoping on the bed. We all got comfortable and the lightning bugs dimmed a bit. Tomorrow was the day we started work. We asked to start early just to get our minds off things. We decided on calling it an early night so we wouldn't be miserable for tomorrow.

After a few moments passed I build up the courage to ask one more question "anyone else hungry?"

Rose POV

It was early in the morning and I decided on going to wake up the kids so they weren't late on their first day of work. I quickly threw on some leggings along with a light pink sweater.

I threw my feet into my white Nikes and was off to get them ready. I knew it was early for them but of course I know they didn't want to miss breakfast.

Headed to Dawns tent first I walked in quietly with ringing the bell. There she was in the middle of her bed snuggled up with Drey and Travis. Adorable I thought. I looked over to see a polaroid on the desk and went to grab it. I took a quick picture of the three of them and pinned the picture onto the board in front of the desk.

I went ahead and picked out Dawns outfit for the day knowing she would be helping Yuki. Yuki wears coveralls over a shirt or not shirt due to all the oil so I grabbed her something to go underneath.

Biker Shorts and a black sports bra would do. She would be getting hot underneath the overalls. I walked over to the kids and smiled a bit. I've always wanted kids, but coming here on the island has stopped me from doing that.

"Kids wake up"

Nothing

"Kids" I said shaking Drey and Dawn

"Go away" Drey mumbled

I then notice wrappers all on the bed. I picked one up and read 'Twinkie's' while another one was a cool ranch Doritos bag. How can they eat so much?

"Breakfast is ready"

With that they all got up tripping over one another "hi Rose" Dawn smiled at me rubbing her eyes while yawning. She was very short, I stood at five seven which made me feel too tall. I know Yuki is happy is no longer the shortest on the island.

"Good morning"

"What time is it?" Drey said stretching while shaking his right leg

"It's early. Time for you guys to get ready for work" I motioned for Travis and Drey to leave and have Dawn her outfit. "Here's your overalls. Make sure to wear your tims today"

With that I left sitting on the porch waiting for them to be ready. First one out was Drey who wore jeans along with a black shirt with the sleeves cut off showing off his muscle "ready to start planting today?"

He smiled "yes ma'am. Making sure the tomato's are ripe" he said sitting down on the step.

Shaking my head knowing the story of him having a problem with the tomato being with the fruits and arguing with my dad about it. Kids are something else.

Next came Travis who wore jeans as well and basic black shirt. Walking over sitting beside me on the rocking chair "daddy told me your mom is a nurse. So you know a few things?"

He shook his head "yes ma'am. My mom would come home telling me about her day so I know a few things"

"Good to hear. Not many people get hurt around here but sometimes they do. Especially the ones who are around electricity and power tools" I explained

Finally came out Dawn "about time" Drey complained "we're starving here"

"Boo hoo" Dawn replied taking off the top of her overalls and tiring it around her waste. I looked over to see Travis intensely staring at her.

"Let's go kids" I got up hitting Travis in the head to get his attention away from Dawn.

"Y-yeah. Let's go kids" he replied jumping off the porch falling on his knees "the porch looked like it was up higher than I thought"

"Yeah. Okay buddy" Drey said patting his back

It's gonna be a long day.
