It was the next morning and everyone was running around getting ready for the ship about to arrive. I quickly hurried to put on some clothes excited to see what would arrive on the ship.

It was a cloudy day out and a bit chilly so I decided on some baggy denim jeans and a black jacket that was cropped a little. The jacket was a little big so I wore a black sports bra underneath to make the straps look like a tank top. I rolled up the bottom of my jeans and threw on some white converse.

Lastly I tied it off by putting a shoe string threw the belt holes and tied it tightly in front. I looked in the mirror nodding in satisfaction "stop looking at yourself" Drey barged in throwing himself into my bed.

"I missed you last night" I said crawling on my stomach beside him

"I missed you too. We were gonna come over for a sleepover but I was so tired from last night I must have passed out" he yawed

I chuckled knowing him and Edwin hung out together instead of the usual three of us. I wasn't mad nor sad, I was happy he found someone to get along with. Yes Drey was probably the sweetest guy you'll ever meet but in school people didn't really care about that.

They were mean and obnoxious, they would make fun of Drey for being dumb and not understanding things quickly. I hated that, not everyone has the control of remembering things on the spot. For Drey it took him some time. In early middle school he was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. He took medication for the ADHD but slowly transitioned out of it because he became a little bit better come high school.

"How did your night go?"

He flipped to his side playing with my hair "it went great. Edwin is a good guy, he listened and even laughed at my jokes that weren't even funny"

"That's good to hear. He seems nice from the couple times we've talked"

Travis walked in jumping to the right of me "what y'all talking about?"

"Travis we are no longer the three lames here. We're the three popular"

Travis had a confused face "he's saying we're actually making friends here" he made and "oh" face understanding that I was talking about Edwin and him.

I shook my head "we weren't really lame. It was just a name, we had relationships with other people"

"Dawn is right, we are were just called the three lames because we were always together and never cared to hang out with everyone else. So they thought that was lame, cause we were to cool for them" Travis said with a duh look, that made me giggle a bit.

"Come on" I said getting up "let's go see if they have any goodies on the ship"

"Wait" Travis ran over to me "can you brush your hair before we go out with you"

We made it to the beach and unfortunately since everyone was in a rush this morning no one made breakfast. Honestly the ship could have waited another hour so we could eat, I get angry on a empty stomach.

The ship was more of a smaller yacht, it was still big but not extremely huge. People were coming on and off the ship with boxes after boxes "here to help?"

We turned around to see boss standing there with quiet a few clip boards "sorry sir but I'm not very strong" I mentioned hoping to get out of labor work

"Same here" Drey said trying to make himself look smaller, the fitted sweater not helping much. No matter what clothes he had on you could tell his was fit.

"Nice try Drey" boss laughed handing me a clip board and pen "luckily for you three, this will be an easy job since your still new"

We all had a clip board full of papers, I assumed it was a check list since they were bring in inventory. It had to many words so I stopped looking.

"You are correct Dawn, it is a check list. Yes it may have a lot of words but trust me it's very easy once you get the hang of it"

Reading minds again see "sorry, it's a habit" he apologized

"Excuse me sir" Dre raised a finger "this isn't an excuse this time but I-um"

I knew what he was gonna say and so did boss. I guess from reading his mind "it's okay Drey, you can come with me and I'll help you out. No worries, something messes up it's fine. We can always fix it" he smiled

Drey needed that. Words of encouragement, he didn't need anyone letting him down or feel worse about himself "thanks" he softly said.

"So we just check off what we have?" Travis asked looking at the papers

"Correct. Each one of you will be split up into different groups. In this case you guys will be the boss. You will have people sorting things out into the tents and you will go down the list asking them what we got in"

Seems easy enough "my son tried his best to make sure the papers where organized and understandable. To the right will have the names of the items, the more you go to the the left is were you check it off"

He held up his clipboard showing us an example "here I have the vegetable lost-" dope, Drey will hopefully get to work with Edwin "-it says tomato and to the left-"

"Excuse me sir" Drey once again raised his hand "tomato's are actually consider a fruit, not vegetable"

"Now isn't the time Drey" Travis whispered

"No it's fine Travis. Any feedback would be great, it helps this community become stronger" Boss mentioned

Feedback I thought "I have some feedback" I said raising my finger just like Drey

"Your suppose to say excuse me" Drey whispered to me

"Oh yeah sorry. Excuse me sir"

"Yes Dawn" Boss sighed

"Talking about feedback. I say we have breakfast every morning" I was still upset there was no signs of food this morning. I need to keep snacks in my tent just in case this ever happens again.

"They do have breakfast every morning moron" Travis poked my check

"Um apparently not Travis, as you saw this morning there was none"

"It's true Travis, there was none. I literally saw a tear come out your eye" Drey started it show boss how Travis acted this morning

Drey was an amazing actor, I felt like it was morning all over again "beautiful Drey"

"Stop instigating him Dawn, and cut it out Drey-" Travis smacked him in the head "-I wasn't crying. That was all you, you were even hugging the ground"

"Was not"

"Was too"

"Boys" Boss interrupted "I would love to hear this conversation but we have work to do"

With that he finished explaining on how to check off inventory. We all went out separate ways. Boss and Drey headed towards vegetables and I guess fruits now too since he couldn't let go of the tomato. Travis toward medical supplies and me off to the home section he called it.

I honestly felt like I got the harder and longer one because it consisted of everything that could go into homes to make it look better. I guess I rather have that than the construction clipboard.
