Chapter 65: "One Hit"
Shadow's point of view
GOING BACK on time. I'm sure this will not happen to me if I made myself completely hidden from everyone's eyes but to know that the four strongest players are inside this stadium, no matter how well I keep myself even inside the walls, mararamdaman at mararamdaman pa rin nila ako.
But to think that Edveron chose me as his pawn was quite admirable for me. The though of him noticing a simple thief like me where he is on a different level than me, parang nakakataba ng pusong isipin na tinuturing nya akong isang realiable pawn sa kanya. Though the word 'pawn' is still not as nice at it sounds like.
The game is starting and the roll of votes are already wondering around the audience to see who's gonna be the first match for this night tournament. Yes. The whole audience are the keys to start the match by passing their 10,000 gold coins fee vote with a name on it, at ang apat na pagpipilian ay kaming apat na contestants dito. Or should I say pawns instead. Goodness I'm starting to get real pissed by now.
The vote papers will be collected by huge owls carrying a huge dark box on there backs. I wonder when will it end before they collected all the votes from this sand-like crowd.
"I am quite surprised," Alistair suddenly appeared beside the bench I am settled on. He sat next to me. "Though I don't want to say the reason 'coz it's a bit offending."
"No need to fret. Tell me how offending that is."
A little laugh came out of his mouth. "Well, If you insist," he folded his arms as he continues. "I'm just astonished by what this tournament turned out in a glimpse. Mukhang tadhana nga talagang magkaharap tayo sa sitwasyon at oras na ito, hindi man kita lubusang kilala I bet we'll know each other in the battlefield."
I scoffed. "How sure are you that we will fight each other? There is one out of three possibilities that we will both get higher votes tonight."
He smiled as I squint my eyes glaring at him. "Did I say something funny?" I asked.
"No. Sorry. Ang ibig ko lang sabihin ay masyado ka naman yatang natural at kalmado sa kabila ng mga nangyayari rito. Bago ka pa lang sa ganitong tournament hindi ba? Sigurado akong kinakabahan ka't hindi makapag-isip ng tama kahit sa mga sandaling ito."
"Now that's offending."
He laughed, raising both arms in the air. "Sorry about that. Hindi talaga ako marunong makipag-usap ng medyo matino sa bagong kakilala."
He's strong but quite dumb when communicating.
"None taken."
"Thank you."
"Magdasal na lang tayo na hindi tayo ang magkaharap para sa gabing ito."
He tilted his neck a little. "Nope! I want to fight with you now. Ang misteryoso kasi ng dating mo gusto kong makita ko na kaagad kung gaano ka kalakas ngayon." he sound excited.
I heaved a deep sigh looking around. "Well. Let's just find out the result if it'll go your way."
His mouth got closer to my ear making me stop moving for a second. "It will." nakangiti nitong bulong bago ako iniwan sa bench na 'yon.
"The first two pawns are already at hand! Ladies and gentlemen!"
How did he find out the vote's result nang gano'n lang kabilis?
