Chapter 11: The Preparation.

"It's been about two in a half years since I met Sonny, and when we started training he trained his tail off, he's been mastering his punches, he can basically throw punches and kicks now without fail! He's also great at dodging, parrying, kicking, all that good stuff, though that's only cause of how long he's been training for. Master Rai has even shown him some of his sword techniques and other sick moves with the sword, heck, he even taught him how to pull the blade out at lightning speed, it's really badass, I think he'll be ready soon believe it or not to actually face my dad, oh and let's not forget that Skyler helped too, she started teaching him how to master his senses, to be able to sense danger from the change in air and even the taste of it, the feeling on the ground and even hear things no one else could, and even be able to see farrrr past our sight limits, he even fights better with his claws.
Although, I should smack him for not telling me it was his birthday like three days after we first met but he said we were too into the training for him to really care and plus even Skyler didn't know till he mentioned it, he was like nine or well ten then, so now he's twelve probably about to turn thirteen soon and I'll make sure I get to celebrate it, he'll at least finally get his wings, and now that I'm seventeen, I'm about to have mine fully grown.
Now I should probably go before the writer kicks me out as I shouldn't be narrating this- ow-! Okay okay I'm out!!"

                          The next day

Rai would stand before Sonny who was sitting on his knees in a formal way, "Sonny, I have one more thing to teach you." Sonny hearing this would look up at Rai a bit confused, "What is it?" He asked as Rai looked at him, "Sword skills, you have a magic sword, which comes with abilities, you must meditate to make them stronger, but I want you to show me what you can do currently, as Elra told me you used an ability when you first met her."
Sonny rethinking on that moment looked down at his sword, "Well, thing is.. I don't know how, I just kinda did it out of stress and the adrenaline rush.."

Rai would think before looking back, "Perhaps it was your sword attempting to protect you." Sonny nodded in agreement, "Yeah, maybe."
Rai looked at a few bamboo sticks, "Well, try it."
Sonny nodded as he raised the blade and swung but nothing came out.
"See..?" He asked hoping that Rai had an answer for it. The master looked and thought for a second, "Hm.. Perhaps you need to learn it's name first before using it, sometimes people do it with their abilities for the strength of it, but with special tools like this, it'll be as if you're calling to your blade to share it's power, with that said, think deep into the core of your blade and search for a name."
Sonny hearing this shook his head in agreement, "Okay.." He would proceed to tightly close his eyes before the voice of Demon would say "Soul Blade. Say it loudly, act as if your life depends on it." The spirit would advise as Sonny's eyes would then shoot open with a light blue glow on his irises as he raised demons fate up with it's blade now surrounded by a glowing purple aura, he would then swing it down with much force while yelling, “Soul blade!” Resulting in a large purple crescent energy blade to fly from it, destroying the bamboo and hitting one of the oak trees nearly turning it to dust as it exploded.
Rai would nod watching this, "This is just the beginning of your powers, however it is not for me to teach you to use them all, for you must activate and learn them on your own if you want them to be at their strongest, and all you must do to make them stronger is meditate and search for the true source of their power and strength and focus on that, once you do that, it'll only answer more questions and increase the strength."
Sonny smiled and answered, "Thank you master Rai." He'd say bowing to him.
Rai looked to Sonny, “I can sense you have something on your mind as well, tell me.” He would say as if he basically read the boys mind, Sonny would look up to him, “Yeah. . . I'm curious, maybe you could help us fight Glitch, you're strong, I know you could win.” Sonny would ask as he looked at Rai who simply shook his head, “If I could win, I do not know, but I do know that it's not my place to fight him, it is for you and Elra, but do not see this as cowardice, if a teacher were to solve all their students major problems, then the student would make it nowhere.” He would answer as Sonny nodded, “I understand. . . Thank you master Rai.”
Rai would nod, "Of course. I must be off now, farewell. Elra, when it is done, you know where to go.” He said as Elra shook her head, "Nah, it'll be a bit, I've still have a child to teach, plus I need to learn to fully control my demon on my own."

Rai smile and shook his head in agreement, "Very well, good luck, child." He said as he'd head off in the direction he first came, "I'm not a child!" She'd yell out at him in frustration.

Sonny seeing he was headed off looked at him, "Wait, where are you going?"
Rai looked over his shoulder, "To train and get stronger myself, the possibility for new things are endless." He'd answer before walking off.
Sonny and Elra just bowed, “Bye master!”

After a few hours of relaxing since Master Rai left, Elra would look at Sonny and say, "So, when are you becoming thirteen?” She asked as Sonny looked at her confused, “Huh?” Elra rolled her eyes, "Oh please, I figured out that you grew up a little after we met, you're clearly aging, and I know you're gonna become thirteen soon."
Sonny sighed, perhaps he didn't like growing up, or perhaps he just liked keeping it a secret, but all he knew is that he wish he didn't mention it the first time, though he was a bit glad she said something on it, "Fine fine, yes I am, tomorrow."

Elra smiled brightly, "Sick, you're gonna grow wings!" She said as Sonny looked at her, "Like you already did?"
Elra shook her head up and down happily, "Yup!" She'd stretch her large dark purple wings out. "And I'ma teach ya how to fly my way!" Sonny hearing this looked at her confused, “What do you mean?” Elra just smiled mischievously, "Oh you'll see in about four years."
Sonny knowing that face all too well just looked at her a bit nervous "Great..."
Elra just nodded, "Mhm!"
Sonny now hoping to pry an answer out of her just looked to her, "Why not just tell me now?"
Elra shook her head, "It'll ruin the surprise and the reaction." She laughed as Sonny blinked and panicked some, "What surprise and reaction!?"
Elra laughed as she looked at him, "You'll see." She would say while giving the :> face.
Sonny layer back in defeat, "Ugh!" If he didn't know what having an older sister was like, he did now.

      
          
                         The next day

Sonny would get up as he went to Skyler, "My back. . ." He'd mutter quietly while rubbing his eyes with one hand and his back with the other.
Skyler looked to him as she slid him some food, "Maybe it's sore from all the training?" She consider as Sonny picking up the food shook his head, "It's not a training pain.. it's more of a growing pain.." Skyler just smiled "Well, you are thirteen now, and you are a Wingling so there you go." Sonny shrugged while still eating, "I guess so. . ."

Elra hopped up to her feet, "Yeah, his wings are coming in!!" She'd yell in excitement before ripping two holes out of his Gi perfectly where the wings would grow out as there were already two wing nubs growing. “Hey!! What the neck was that for!?” Sonny asked now annoyed, this was the outfit Skyler gave him when he was young, he definitely grew in it, Gi's in this world were clothes mainly used by students who trained or sported swords and weapons in a formal way, they consisted of a more formal Oriental uniform, more like a Kimono but less thick or large and much easier to put on. It was still one side of it wrapped over the other and then tied together by a belt of different colors distinguishing rank, but Sonny just had a purple scarf like belt wrapped around it. Skyler had found them on one of her past adventures and gave it to Sonny, it also looked much better than the villager clothes, less common, and this outfit also had special properties to it anyway.

Elra shook her head as she corrected his anger, "You'll need to let them grow out or else they'll become deformed if they're covered, and you do not want that." She'd say with a smile.
Sonny now understanding why just nodded, "Great.." He still wasn't too happy about having two large holes in the back of his Gi top.

Elra smiled as she thought she should help encourage him on his wing growth, "When they're fully grown and you can fly, I'll teach you how to fight with em!" Sonny's eyes widened as his mood grew instantly, "You can fight with feathers!?"
Elra nodded with a smile, “Yeah!!" Sonny just smiled as he cheered, "Sweet, let's do it!!" Elra now happy that he was happy would simply cheer with him, "That's the spirit!"
