Chapter 75: Demonic Optimism.

A few weeks ago after the Cardinal Incident:

Cardinal would be walking with his hands in his pockets with a smile, his wounds already healed as he walked out of the ruined village with a careless strut.
Vero would be running before he stopped dead in his tracks in front of Cardinal.

Vero in clear annoyance, “You. . .” He sounded pretty pissed.
Cardinal laughed as he smiled, "Oh, what gives me the pleasure of encountering you here hmm??"

Vero: "You know damn well what I'm here for?"

Cardinal: "You're gonna have to be more specific Smokey bear." He kept his smile as he talked.

Vero: "Sonny! You went out and killed him didn't you!?"

Cardinal: "Ah, I should've known you didn't come here to give me a visit." He said, giving a fake frown and made his voice sound disappointed.

Vero: "Stop playing dumb, dumbass!"

Cardinal: "Okay okay fine, but if you came for Sonny, he's already being dealt with."

Vero: "What do you mean? Did you take him out!?"

Cardinal: "Oh no, but I was sure close, I already could've killed him and his group if I really wanted to but I decided to play with my food."

Vero: "Bastard. So what's happening now!?"

Cardinal: "Oh, as of now? Archangel Azrael came in and decided to take over, those kids will be dead in one way or another, and I'll still have my chance to take his bounty. So no point in getting involved."

Vero: "Like hell I'm gonna let him take over!" he'd run in but Ren grabbed his coat by the hood and threw him forward.

Cardinal: "No no no, don't be a bad boy now, you know if you intervene you'll be given your own bounty.... Then I might have to kill you just to take it." He chuckled.

Vero: "You bastard, I may not be able to take out Sonny but I can sure as hell take you out!"

Cardinal: "If you think you can, come and try...." He chuckled and glared at Vero.

Vero: "Very well!" He'd yell as he unsheathed a katana from his back, it was dark blue and red and gave a light greenish aura from it.

Cardinal: "Ooo, a new sword huh, and a soul slaying one at that, you must've made a dirty little deal with a higher up in the Underworld to get your hands on that huh?"

Vero: "Shut your mouth! Now die!!!" He'd dash forward as trails of smoke would leave his body as he ran in, Cardinal would run at the same amount of speed right back at Vero as they were about to clash.

Meanwhile

Kadie would be sitting in a chair in the middle of the destroyed ruins in the Southern Airies looking at Cardinals wanted poster, “Ah, he should do good,” he turned the poster over seeing a number of his crimes, “Hehehe.... With him and his sadistic and powerful being, my plans could go a bit quicker.....” He said, his voice echoy and soft. . .

Back during the fight

Vero would slash at Cardinal only for him to dodge and kick him into a tree, Vero would send blade of smoke that were mixed with blood and bone at Ren only for them to be avoided by the bird man, Cardinal would laugh as he took of the torn up feather coat and toss it to the side.

Cardinal: "I haven't even used my power and you have sweat beads rolling down your forehead."

Vero: "Shut your mouth!"

Cardinal: "Nah." He threw his hand to the side and close his fingers some as the threads were about to shred Vero but he turned his body and clothes in very thin smoke as he avoided the threads but the stopped in the middle when Vero turned back into his material form.

Vero: "That won't work."

Cardinal: "Oh but won't it?" He closed his fingers more and Vero held his chest with a loud groan.

Vero: "I thought I... avoided them, how...?"

Cardinal: "These threads are the threads of hell, a soul based power, meaning I can even grab your soul. Nice try though."

Vero would slash up cutting the threads in half and soon, before he could react Cardinal was in front of him as he started punching the hell out of him and beating him to the ground.

Cardinal: "I think you had enough, now then, why shouldn't I just end you now hm???"

Kadie: "That would be quite the sight."

Cardinal: "Huh? And who might you b-.... Well now, what gives me the honor of having you visit me Kadie, Kadie of the Southern Airies."

Kadie would snap and Vero would be teleported back to the Underworld.

Kadie: "I had the idea that I could ask you to join me." He said softly.

Vero now in the Underworld bar barely breathing while laying across the counter as Ceno looked down at him, "Oh well hello, I see you found out what happened when you and Cardinal fight eachother."

Vero: “Shut up Ceno.....”

Cardinal: "Oh..? And why should I do that hm?"

Kadie: "Oh I think you'll be quite amused by this idea."

Kadie would go over and speak his plans to Cardinal who nodded.

Cardinal: “Well then, as much as I like the offer and idea, I'ma have to decline for now, when I finish my work in this world, I will find you and we can begin our work in the next.”

Kadie: “Very well then. Until we meet again Ren, hehehehe.....” Kadie would vanish before his eyes as Cardinal would smile and continue off on his path away from the village.
