Wolves of Valor

Chapter 2: Closure.

Sonny's eyes widened, he was hoping she didn't mean what he thought she meant, "Wh-what...?" He'd say in pure shock frozen in place. "What... Do you mean...?"
Skyler sighed knowing this wasn't gonna be too easy to explain, "They're gone, dead, I don't know what happened to cause it but I was just walking when I noticed the smell of smoke, so I followed it, and well, it lead to your house which was on fire, when I came in to find anybody, I only found you, as I was taking you out, the whole building collapsed." Sonny upon hearing this, would back up into a wall holding his head with tears forming in his eyes, unable to believe what he was just told, "S..so t-they're d-dead..?" He was starting to breakdown as Skyler would go over sitting next to him. "I'm sorry Sonny, I wish I was there earlier so I could've stopped it. . ." she'd try and comfort.

Sonny began tearing up even more,as he sniffled heavily, tears streaming down his cheeks, "I-I have to go back.." Skyler looked over to him, confused on what he meant, "Hm?" Sonny looked at her on the brink of sobbing, "I have to check if they're still there!!" His voice cracked.
Skyler wanting to comfort him figured she'd help him out despite knowing his parents were already gone and dead, "Alright, I'll take you there and we can search a bit." She would say softly.
She would set him on her back as she walked out going back to where the house was now only being a burnt pile of rubble.

Skyler looking around the area would look over her shoulder, "Let's search, don't get hurt." She'd say setting the boy down as she looked around through the rubble and Sonny did the same.
After a bit of searching she'd finally say "I don't sense any of their presence..."
Sonny searching even harder, "Maybe they're still here though... They have to be.." It was clear he was in denial, it was all so fast. Skyler would sigh in a saddened tone knowing this was rough on the kid, "Listen Sonny, I'd sense their presence if they were still here, and I don't... I'm sorry kid." She'd say calmly, there was no point in being rough or loud around the boy.
He would fall on his knees in front of the rubble. "Where am I gonna live.. I have no parents, the orphanages are dirty and cold.. the village won't accept a hybrid..." he'd say beginning to tear up again.

Skyler seeing this depressing sight would think for a second, "...sigh maybe you could stay with me in my den for a bit, since you are part wolf it's only proper to stick with the pack." She'd suggest as Sonny looked over his shoulder to her, "You'd really do that..?" He'd ask as he was still saddened.
Skyler without really answering just asked, "Well, you gonna accept the offer or not?"

Sonny just sniffled as he'd run over hugging her hiding his face in her fur.
She just did a small sigh licking his face cleaning his tears. "Alright let's go kid."

Sonny nodded slowly, his voice muffled from her fur, "Okay.. Skyler." He'd answer, "You can just call me Sky." She'd respond back, "Okay.. Sky." He'd say only for her to respond with, "Mhm."

Skyler would be walking back to the den with the boy on her back, "So tell me about yourself, like how old are you for a half demon, any siblings, or powers?" She'd question, now curious on the kid.

Sonny would think before answering, "Uh, I'm around 9, so far I only had one, but he left the family to hunt and get stronger on his own, and that was long before I was born, also the only powers I have are just physical abilities like good senses and high strength." Skyler upon hearing this would have her ears perk up, "Oh really? And if your brothers still alive maybe I can bring you to him, and he can take care of you?" She'd offer that as the brother was his family technically, perhaps it'd be better.
Sonny shook his head to his offer, "I'd prefer not to.. I've been told he's quite ruthless and has proven to have little to no emotion." He'd say softly as he hugged Skyler more, her fur was like a soft blanket to him.

Skyler shrugged, "Up to you." She'd say as she carried him back to the den. "You should go sleep though, you've had a rough day and I'll have food ready for when you wake up." She'd ask as she entered the den entrance and he'd nod before getting off as they made it to the den and then went to lie down on the mat passing out almost instantly.
Skyler would make a small laugh before getting food ready from a small storage and start cooking it as to not give him raw meat.

Skyler would sigh softly as she looked forward, "You've got a long journey ahead you kid." She knew what was to come.
