Chapter 46

Jade Leywin POV

I have to say beds in this castle are a lot more comfortable than anything I slept on ever since reincarnating, still nothing comparable to the ones back on Earth but this has been the best night of sleep I had in a very long time mostly thanks to this pillow, it was soft, warm and cozy

Realising it was time to get up I tried opening my eyes only to find them firmly glued together, I reached for them with my right hand hoping rubbing them would work but instead of reaching my face my hand got hold of something else, something soft

"Mmh"

Uhm why did my pillow just moan?

Slowly shifting to a sitting position I conjured a thin veil of water on my hands and rubbed my eyes, finally being able to open them I looked around and saw Mai laying right beside me, her hair was a tangled mess and she was wearing a black tank top, seeing her made my memories of everything that happened yesterday resurface, I felt a blade plunging in my heart as I thought about my parents, I leaned over her and placed a kiss on her forehead

"Thank you, for being there for me" I whispered

"Always" she whispered back as she slowly opened her eyes

"When did you wake up?" I asked and my face started to feel hot as I remembered where I touched her moments ago

"Just now, feeling better?"

"More or less" I told her with a wry smile

"Okay, time to get out of bed, you have a meeting with the Council and I have to sneak back to my room before someone notices" she declared and she started getting up

I stared at her as she pulled away the bed sheets revealing her beautiful, smooth and slender legs left bare as she was wearing only a pair of shorts which ended well before her mid thigh, I kept watching as she made her way towards the door, she stopped in front of the door and she looked over her shoulder and noticed my gaze

"Enjoying the view?" she said coquettishly with a teasing smile

"A lot" I replied

"Just check if the coast is clear" she told me rolling her eyes

"Yep, all clear just be quick"

Mai rushed out of my room quickly running to hers without anyone seeing her, getting out of the bed I headed for the bathroom for a cold shower

' Yozora, you have any plans? ' I asked as I was walking out of the shower

' I'll just stay in your shadow and meditate, I don't get stronger with external sources of mana anymore so from this point it's just meditating as much as I can ' she replied

' Okay '

' Also, sorry '

' For what? ' I asked confused

' For not doing anything yesterday, I didn't know what to do ' she said and I could feel her sadness

' Don't worry, I'll be fine with time '

Exiting the bathroom I got dressed and headed for the cafeteria to grab some breakfast, I'm starving since I skipped dinner yesterday, on the way there I met Virion

"Jade, on your way for the Council room?" he asked

"Actually I wanted to have breakfast first" I replied

"I'll ask the maids to bring us something in the Council room, I'm sorry but there's just too much to discuss" he said in an apologetic tone and I could see dark circles under his eyes, he must have stayed up all night reading the books I gave them
