Chapter 56

Jade Leywin POV

"ROAR!!!" the boss I was fighting roared before trying to hit me with his horns, I used [Shadow step] to get away, emerging from the shadow of one of the stalactites hanging on the ceiling I let myself fall down

Orienting myself I landed on the boss's back plunging my daggers into the sides of its neck, the boss started thrashing around trying to unsaddle me, as he was busy with this Yozora jumped out of his shadow sinking her fangs in its throat, jerking her head sideways she ripped it out and the boss died a few seconds later while letting out wet gurgles

We were currently in a SS class dungeon and Yozora and I just killed the boss which was a centaur armed with sword, shield and bow, it had sickly grey skin with black, wild beard and hair and 2 horns sprouting from ita forehead, one was like that of a moose while the other was thin and sharp like the blade of a sword

Differently from other armed mana beasts that randomly swung their weapons around this guy had actual techniques, unrefined and simple but still techniques, which made him a lot more dangerous than regular mana beasts

' Well this guy had been fairly annoying to deal with ' Yozora commented

' Yep, but at least this time we managed to fight together since the other beasts in this room are all quite weak' I remarked

' Speaking of that maybe we should help the rest of the unit ' Yozora reminded me

Turning around I could see the Trailblazers were still engaged in battle with a horde of mana beasts, there were mostly giant lizards capable of wielding weapons and some goblin-like creatures with oval heads

(A.N. for anyone still wondering the boss was a silver lynel while the regular beasts are lizalfos and boblins all from Zelda BOTW and TOTK)

' Alright let's finish this ' I said and we jumped into the fray killing off one mana beast after the other

"Whew, is it me or *huff* this has been more difficult than usual *huff*" Claire commented while catching her breath as the battle ended

Over the last year many people were added in the Trailblazer unit as reinforcements one of those people was Claire, she joined the war as soon as the Council started looking for volunteers with Theo following her

"Pff, you only say this because you weren't there when we faced that crazy hydra" Darvus remarked

"God please don't remind me" Caria groaned

"Hydra?" Claire asked

"Yeah it happened a month or so before you arrived, it was a SS class dungeon and the boss was this crazy nine headed giant hydra and it was accompanied by an army of giant scorpions and by giant I mean that they were 20 meters long" Tess explained

"How in the world did you manage to keep the casualties to zero?" Claire asked dumbfounded

"Ask wonder boy over there" Darvus said pointing at me, it was good that even after seeing my actual power he still kept his snarky, sarcastic attitude towards me, honestly I was almost glad he did, ever since that first dungeon the people in this unit started treating me like some sort of saviour, hell some of them were inches away from straight up revering me, I could tell he started respecting me as a soldier after our first dungeon but he and rest of our team alongside the Twin horns and Claire's team still treated me like a normal person

"Jade managed to position himself in a way that the hydra's attacks he dodged would end up hitting the army of scorpions, I'm fairly sure a good third of the army was killed with just this" Mai explained seeing Claire's confused face
