Chapter 123

Jade Leywin POV

| Several years later |

"Come here little Iris" I said as Tess handed me a small bundle of blankets, inside said bundle was a little girl with pale, blond hair and teal eyes

Art, Tess and I were currently in the garden of my manor enjoying the sunny day while playing with Iris, Art and Tess's first and only child, at least for the time being, waiting for lunch to be served while Mai was busy feeding Sun our second child who was born last week

The baby stretched her hands forward while laughing adorably, placing a hand on her abdomen I checked her core

"So, is there anything wrong?" Tess asked me worried

"No, everything's fine, there are no complications with the seal, her core is perfectly healthy and her growth is not affected" I replied

"Good"

She was born with a fully formed and functioning mana core thanks to her asuran heritage, unfortunately she didn't possess the innate instinct required to control her mana at such a young age, when she was born she released a wave of mana so powerful I had to burst into the room and quickly place her core under my control to prevent her from harming someone

Due to her reliance of mana for sustainment I couldn't fully seal her core so I resorted to restraining it so that only the amount of mana required for her body to function correctly was allowed to exit the core, that said she's a newborn and like all newborns she has a lot of growing up to do and in order to do that she needs mana, I took the habit of checking her weekly to be sure the restraints weren't too heavy to not stunt her growth although today I was doing something different

"Are you sure the spell will work?" Tess asked worried as I applied a new spell on her core

"Yes, I'm sure" I told her for the millionth time

"Of course, it's you we're talking about, your spell will obviously be perfect, sorry for always asking this it's not that I don't trust you but..."

"It's alright, it's your child, I can understand why you're so worried" I stated interrupting her

"Thanks"

The spell we were talking to was a special type of seal I devised for Iris, I made it so the seal around her core that prevented her from releasing mana would automatically adapt to her growth without the need for me to check her regularly, I started working on it since Art and I received Mordain's message last week, everything was finally ready, it's time to end this and in order to do so we'll have to go to Epheotus and we have no idea how long we'll be gone for which means I won't be able to check on Iris regularly so I needed a spell that didn't require constant maintenance

"Where's Mai?" Art asked noticing she wasn't with us

"She just finished feeding Sun, she'll join us once Sun falls asleep" I told him after using my perception to check on Mai

"That girl is adorable" Tess declared with a smile

"I'm just glad you didn't freak out during her birth like you did for Sirius's" Art stated

"I didn't freak out" I argued

"Jade, do I have to remind you how things went?" Art asked

"Jade!"

"Jade! Seriously stop! If you keep walking back and forth like that you're going to dig a trench in the floor" Art called me out grabbing my shoulders
