Seth and Mayla's cries of surprise filled my ears as I exited the portal, looking around I could see the lavishly decorated room hosting the tempus warp and looking out I could see the coliseum in which the Victoriad would take place

"Come on Seth, you spend practically all of your time with your nose buried in books and the best you can come up with is whoa?" Enola teased him while slapping his back to which Seth blushed embarrassed

"Well I guess no words can actually do justice to the beauty of this place the first time you see it" Valen commented

"Stop chit-chatting and start walking, we're not here to do some sightseeing!" Briar scolded them

The class quickly started to march towards the coliseum, once there I handed our identification to one of the staff members and they led us to a private booth

"*phew* a private booth? Sweet" Marcus whistled

"You can thank my grandfather for this" Valen bragged

"PEOPLE OF ALACRYA, VECHOR WELCOMES YOU ALL TO THIS EDITION OF THE VICTORIAD!!!" the voice of the announcer boomed across the coliseum carried by the voice amplifying artifacts

"NOW BEFORE ANNOUNCING THE RULES OF THIS VICTORIAD WE ALL PAY OUR RESPECTS TO SOVEREIGN KIROS WHO GRACED US ALL WITH HIS PRESENCE" the announcer continued and at his words everyone turned towards a massive private booth placed on the best possible location and bowed down in reverence

"You may rise" the voice of a man resounded, he had massive bull-like horns sprouting from the sides of his head and a broad fairly muscular frame, he was sitting lazily on a throne while wearing enough gold to buy a whole castle and chewing some grape, at his remark everyone got up and the announcer continued

"THIS EDITION OF THE VICTORIAD WILL BE DIFFERENT, THOSE WHO WILL TRIUMPH IN THE DUELS WILL RECEIVE THE HONOR OF FORMALLY CHALLENGING THE RETAINERS AND SCYTHES AND FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY, THE SCYTHES WON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO TURN DOWN THE CHALLENGE!"

A chorus of surprise welcomed this news, usually only accomplished and famous ascenders or vritra-blooded could issue a formal challenge and the challenge could be turned down unilaterally by the scythes and their retainers

"THE BARBARIC DICATHIANS LURED THEM INTO A TRAP, THEY ANNOUNCED THEIR INTENTION TO KILL EVERY PRISONER THEY CAPTURED OVER THE COURSE OF THE WAR" the announcer stopped allowing the shocked crowd to process the news

"OUR BRAVE SCYTHES COULDN'T LET THAT SLIDE AND IMMEDIATELY RUSHED TO THE PLACE, UNFORTUNATELY THOSE SAVAGE COWARDS LAYED A TRAP, USING AN UNKNOWN ARTIFACT THEY SAPPED OUR WARRIORS OF THE STRENGTH GRANTED TO THEM BY THEIR BLOOD AND MANAGED TO KILL THEM, FOR THIS REASON THIS VICTORIAD WILL BE USED TO SELECT NEW RETAINERS AND NEW SCYTHES" the announcer finished
