Jade Leywin POV

| 1 year later |

"Okay this place will do, we'll set up camp here" I ordered as we reached a natural cavern, big enough for us to set the main camp

"YOU HEARD THE GENERAL, ENGINEERS  SET UP THE DEFENSIVE PERIMETER, EMITTERS THE INFIRMARY, LOGISTICS DIVISION THE GENERAL FACILITIES, TWIN HORNS AND TEAM BLADEHEART YOU'RE ON PATROL DUTY!" Drogo barked his orders

Since he already had extensive experience in leading the Trailblazers Drogo and I agreed to leave to him the actual management of the unit as I would simply give general orders, of course should the need arise my orders would overwrite his given my rank

"Do any of you guys need some rest?" I asked my team

"Nope" "I'm good" "Still have mana" "I'm fine"

They all replied

"I take it that you'll do a preliminary scout like the other times?" Drogo asked me

"Yeah, these dungeons are becoming more dangerous and the mana beasts inside have never been seen before so I'll take my unit and see if we can find out anything that might help the others" I confirmed

Throughout the last year we barely completed 20 dungeons and this wasn't because we took more time but rather because the dungeons were dwindling and it now took us some time to locate one that still had to be cleared and those were always unknown dungeons never explored or even discovered before so the mana beasts inside were a complete mystery and after a couple of accidents in which some mages lost their lives we decided my team would always be the first to scout a dungeon, unfortunately despite our progress the alacryans still managed to build a settlement in the beast glades taking by advantage of their foothold in Darv and since we confirmed the presence of at least 3 retainers we couldn't attack carelessly

"If everyone is ready let's go" I said and we started going down the tunnel that would lead us deeper into the dungeon

As soon as we left the cavern the dungeon became pitch black, while it was normal for a dungeon to not be exactly bright usually small sources of light were present, this one on the other hand had none so in was completely shrouded in darkness, I snapped my fingers and a bright white fireball the size on my head appeared around a meter above our heads Illuminating the tunnel

"Feyrith, Lilia be ready for everything, we don't know what might be lurking in the darkness" I instructed

"You think in might be something capable of eluding your senses?" Lilia asked

"Don't know but better be safe than sorry"

"Right" she replied raising her guard and I saw Feyrith do the same

We continued walking down the tunnel for an hour, it was still pitch black and there was no sound aside from our footsteps, I couldn't sense a single living being with my perception spells

"What the?" Darvus spoke up

"What happened?" I asked

"Look at this" he pointed at a bunch of oval shaped stones 1 meter in height layed on the floor, no wait they're not stones, they're... eggs?

"Ehm, has anyone ever seen anything like this before?" Caris asked and everyone just shook their heads

"What are these?" Darvus asked as he nudged one with the tip of his boot

"I think they're eggs" I told them

"Eggs? This big? I don't want to meet whatever thing layed something like this" Caris stated
