Jade Leywin POV
"I still can't believe you managed to take back half of Sezh-Clar on the same night you killed a sovereign" Seris declared as she sat down behind her desk where a humongous pile of paper was waiting for her
"Yeah well Exeges proved to be a much easier opponent than we thought and since we didn't have anything to lose and that sooner or later we would have to take back Sezh-Clar we just gave it a shot" I replied slumping down on the sofa
"So you guys took out an enemy like that in less than an hour and faced off against several Wraiths' teams right after while it took me decades of careful planning and scheming to take down Orlaeth whose power was comparable and it still almost killed me, Cylrit and Caera" Seris stated in a mixture of wonder and frustration
It's been 3 days since the raid against Exeges and we were currently inside Seris's office in Sandaerene handling the humongous amount of work needed in order to move everyone out of the Relictombs, normally it would be a logistical nightmare to move so many people and so many goods but Seris was handling everything smoothly, to the point that my help was basically unnecessary, a novelty for me
The office was fairly big, easily 40 square metres, the room was rectangular in shape and on the farthest end of the room there was a massive window that provided the room of plenty of natural light and gave access to the balcony from which one could have full view of the inner garden of the government palace, one of the longer walls was entirely covered with a massive bookshelf stuffed full with books, scrolls and other things, right in front of the window there was a giant desk with 2 chairs placed in front of it, at some distance there were two couches opposite to each other with a low table placed in-between
The style of the room was quite simple despite the fact that all this furniture was obviously made from top quality materials by expert artisans it lacked the opulence I'd seen in places like the dwarven royal palace or the Castle, I guess Seris isn't one to show off her wealth like that
"The most incredible part is that there is almost no collateral damage done to the city, are you sure you eliminated all of the Wraiths by the way?" Seris asked
"Positive, I searched every inch inside the barrier and I didn't sense anything, while I wouldn't say that it's impossible to elude my senses I'm confident when I say that it's incredibly difficult to do so, as for the collateral damage well we actually ended up destroying most of Aedelgard, your house in particular and Sandaerene, the nearby villages also suffered quite a lot of damage, it's just that Arthur fixed this place after the fight" I explained
"Speaking of Arthur, where is he?" Seris asked
"Going around to fix the rest, his ability to rewind time is a literal godsend for this, although we should seriously address his inability to fly one of these days, he can't just keep running around" I replied
"So your brother is busy going around repairing everything while you're just lazing around?"
"Ohi! I just finished modifying the shield generator!"
"Remind me why was the modification necessary?"
"Because you made the shield to use Orlaeth as a power source while he was still alive, more or less, which means that despite being in a vegetative state he was still actively manipulating the mana to maintain the shield, Exeges's core on the other hand is just a core, its only function right now is to store mana so I had to modify the generator a bit to have the same level of barrier" I explained
"Oh, I'm not sure if I should be surprised or not honestly, I knew about your talent for artificing but to think you would be able to not only understand such a complex machine but also be able to tinker it but then again you were also able to hijack the communications around the continent to allow me to deliver the news about Exeges's death" Seris mused
