Abhimanyu saw patients in the Emergency dept. daily struggling to take breaths and asking for help from him but he had never felt this helpless. He logically knew that she was having a panic attack and that he needed to do something but he  felt like he too would pass out if he let her go to get the  supplies needed to break the girl's panic spiral. The girl had grasped his shirt so tightly that Abhi knew if he let her go she would pass out and the only thing holding her up and conscious, was him. Her plea for help and the look in her eyes was what broke him from his trance and he picked the girl up putting one hand over her back and other by her legs and carried her to a corner in the garden where he sat her down across from him. He saw her gasping for breath and opening her eyes trying to get her bearings.

"Breathe, you are ok, I'm here for you" he told the girl in a steady voice and grabbed both her hands in his hand. He could see the girl jerk from their touch and he began looking around for anything that could help him help her. He saw some wet mud in the corner and reached out to grab a fistful of wet mud and asked the girl "May I??? I'll need to lift your lehenga to get to your feet, just nod if it's ok" He knew she wouldnt be able to speak and as he saw her nod through her gasps he lifted her lehenga a little to gain access to her feet, her feet had dainty anklets on both the legs, he couldn't help but notice, as he rubbed the cold wet mud on her ankles. He knew the cold would probably help her jerk out of the imminent spiraling and maybe bring her back to reality.

She jumped a little feeling the cold sensation on her feet and this caused the panic attack to ease a little. Abhimanyu saw her try to gulp long pulls of air and he felt like his lungs were the ones finally getting filled with air. His own anxiety eased a little..he knew she would be fine.

The girl was still taking long shallow breaths trying to get her bearings and her beautiful eyes found Abhimanyu's and he felt like he couldn't look away. He wanted to feel whatever he was feeling to never end but he was jerked back to reality when he noticed that she was still struggling a little to get her breathing regulated.

"I have some meds in the house I will run back inside and grab them, be right back" He said and as he began to stand he felt two small hands grab his hand and she shook her head in refusal "Don't... please" she gasped out. Who was he to refuse, Abhi thought before sitting back down in front of her muddy feet and fanned lehenga.

"ok... ok.. let me at least get water from the shelf over there by the shrubs, the water will help you especially as i wash your feet" Upon her nod he ran like his life depended on it, grabbed the water can and rushed back to her as he could see her breathing pick up from the mere 5 seconds separation. He ran the water on her feet and gently cleaned all the mud off, rubbing her delicate feet between his hands. He began a one sided conversation with the girl..

"I am Abhimanyu Birla, I am a doctor, and what you just had was a panic attack, do you know what those are? Have you had them before? just nod to my questions and save your breath" He asked the girl in a firm but gentle voice.

As she nodded a yes to his questions looking at him with an expression he couldn't place, he asked "Have you been diagnosed with Asthma?" She moved her head in refusal.

"Do you know what set it off?" he asked her in a protective voice. He felt like he would jump in fire to perish whatever the cause of her attack was. Abhimanyu had never felt these kinds of feelings and it was throwing him off a little.

The girl nodded in affirmation "Crowds..Pooja..staring.." she gasped out each word with great difficulty.

"SHHH.. shh.. it's ok" Abhimanyu said as he gently removed some locks of hair falling on the girl's face. He tried to tell himself that it was to help his patient but he knew it was so that he could look at her hidden face clearly. "Do you like music? I sometimes ask my patients to hum a tune, you don't have to be good at it and honestly it can be something silly like twinkle twinkle" He rambled. Abhimanyu Birla never ever rambled...."Do you want to try humming?

He felt the girl nod her head in agreement and Abhimanyu waited with her patiently giving her space to begin it on her own. As Abhimanyu reluctantly shuffled around and got up to give her some space, he heard the girl begin to hum an unfamiliar tune. He wasn't sure what song it was but he had never heard anyone hum so melodiously. He was stunned speechless and had goosebumps running up all over his arms. Abhimanyu again felt like his world was tilting on its axis and he had to grab the support of a tree stump to orient himself.

The girl was unaware of the battle raging inside Abhimanyu's mind, heart and body and continued to hum. A look of utter peace took over her face as her breathing returned to normal, the girl began to sing an aarti in a low voice and Abhimanyu could finally make out the tune she was humming... It was a bloody aarti, ofcourse it was, but even that realization could not make him take his eyes away from the girl singing an ode of love to Lord Krishna. Her entire being glowed and Abhimanyu refused to blink for the fear of missing a second of the aarti.

As the girl began winding down the song, color rushed to her cheeks making her look ethereal. Abhimanyu was stunned out of his devotion as he came to the realization that this was the same voice he had heard a couple of days back with Dr. Rohan. The girl was breathing normally and had got up with flushed cheeks, She was about to speak to him and he could not wait to hear her talk to him. As her mouth began to form a "thank you" they heard some commotion coming from the garden door and Abhimanyu came back to reality that he was still at fucking Birla House and that there was an ongoing pooja and that if anyone found him here with a girl who looked like she was definitely dressed for the pooja everyone would make his life miserable. He shrugged himself off of whatever magic this woman had cast on him and once she turned to go to the approaching girl from the kitchen door, he made his escape. He knew she was ok and recovering, he would never leave his patients if they needed him and he especially would not leave this gorgeous girl if she was still under harm. He couldn't believe the thought that had just crossed his mind as he opened his car door and got in.

Abhimanyu felt like his heart was still in the garden at birla house as he began driving to go back to his apartment reluctantly.
