"AKSHARA!!" she heard pounding on her door the next afternoon which made the pounding in her skull a thousand times worse. She groaned loudly as she gained her bearings realizing that she was extremely hungover, and Kairav Bhai was yelling from outside the door. UGH, what now? She mumbled to herself before shakily getting out of bed and stumbling towards the door.
She was shocked to see a seething Kairav and Vansh at her door glaring at her. Her brain hadn't caught up to her surroundings yet, she hastily smoothed her hair down and took a couple of deep breaths before anxiously looking between her brothers "what's up?" she asked, voice hoarse from the lack of hydration.
"You tell us Akshu" Vansh Bhai glared at her causing the remaining blood to leech out of her face.
"Bhaiya?" she stammered looking at Kairav who glared at her before turning his phone over to her, her entire being froze when she clocked that his screen showed a frozen frame of Abhimanyu kissing her cheek from last night. CRAP.
She turned her beseeching gaze to meet Kairav's seething one "I was watching a video from last night and to my absolute shock look what I found? How could you? How could he?" His tone left no room for argument, but Akshara pulled on a brave front trying to sort through her still fuzzy head to figure out an appropriate response.
"I swear, we were going to tell you, Bhaiya. In fact, last night was when I was going to tell you." she breathed out, the clanking in her skull refusing to let up.
"Tell us what? How long has this been going on?" Kairav yelled making her flinch, mostly from his tone but also from some of that lingering alcohol.
"For a while... I really really like him Bhaiya." she murmured massaging her head trying to get thoughts to filter into her mind.
"Get ready" Kairav yelled "Mimi and all are not here so I took the liberty to call Abhimanyu and his siblings here so we can all lay it out in the open" DOUBLE CRAP.
Akshara hurried about doing her business, brushing her teeth as fast as she could and jumping in the shower hoping her hangover would let up soon otherwise she was in for a torturous day, especially now with things being dragged out in the open. She felt her anxiety rise at the impending doom but well at least it was out now, this is what she had been dreading and well lo and behold it had happened. She desperately wished she could have been the one to tell him but regardless there was no point in crying over spilt milk.
Akshara rushed downstairs only for her startled gaze to meet Abhimanyu's calm one, he didn't seem as fazed by this which in turn brought her some semblance of peace. Whatever happens, she had him and to her that was enough.
"How long has this been going on?" Kairav roared pointing between the two of them making Akshara flinch.
"Long enough." Abhimanyu said in a steady voice "We wanted to give ourselves some time before we told everyone." Akshara could tell that Kairav Bhaiya hated what Abhimanyu said
"So you decided to go behind our backs and do this?" he yelled and Akshara hated it because he never ever raised his voice at her.
"Bhaiya please.." she pleaded, "I really really like him." She walked over in front of him grabbing his hands "None of this was meant to hurt you, we just wanted to give this relationship a fair chance."
"Relationship" Kairav scoffed and from the corner of her eye she could see Abhimanyu still. She wasn't sure what she would do if he lost his calm because things would get ugly really fast. She saw Aarohi give her a thumbs up from where she stood which unfortunately Kairav witnessed. He whirled around to her pointing his finger at her "You knew?" and when she nodded fearfully Kairav spinned around the room looking at everyone's faces and when everyone refused to meet his eyes, something akin to betrayal flared in his eyes.
