Info - regulus and male reader, adopting children, wizarding ableism, Sirius in prison, leaving abusive family

"Today is the day Reggie," I said excitedly. We were both eager.

We were Hogwarts sweethearts, getting together in fourth year. Everyone was quite surprised when the Hufflepuff Headboy, known as a goodie two shoes, had started dating the bad boy Slytherin Seeker.

We'd faced a lot together. His parents hadn't approved of him being with a boy. None of my friends had approved of me being with a Slytherin. We'd made it through.

He had cut off his family, meaning our income was scare. However, we'd both known what we wanted to save for, adoption. We both wanted children badly. Unfortunately, with the reputation of Regulus's family, it was hard. We'd had to work hard to prove we weren't cruel blood purist. To my surprise, Regulus was happy to not be given preferential treatment.

"I know," he said emotionally. "I-I really can't believe this is finally happening."

"It's finally our big day," I said and put my arms around him from the back. I kissed his neck as we waited.

"Here they are," said a nurse from Saint Mungos. She carried the twins in her arms. The parents hadn't wanted them since they were Squibs. We didn't care, we just wanted to give a home to some children.

"Oh, they're perfect," Regulus cooed. He was crying and I was on the brink of tears as well.

"The one in the purple blanket is a boy, and so is the one in the yellow blanket. Their parents neglected to name them. If you two are ready, I can spell the documents right now, so they're good to go," said the Nurse.

"Sirius, I want the one I'm holding to be named Sirius," he said, remembering his brother in Azkaban.

"And the one I'm holding, we want to name him Louis," I said.

"Excellent, Sirius and Louis Black. You're free to go," The nurse smiled and walked away.

"Come on love, let's take them home," I said. I walked a few paces and then didn't feel Regulus beside me.

"Reg?" I turned around. He was staring with big wide eyes at Sirius. His long thing finger was clutched in the infant's pugey hand.

"He's so beautiful," he sniffed.

"I know baby," I said fondly. He looked up at me with wet grey eyes.

"We have a little family," he sobbed.

"Yeah, we do," I agreed. "And I'm so happy it's with you."
