27. Gift Ready

It is Christmas Eve night and I have made it back to my parents house. Eve has been here since this morning and I was here earlier but one small call came in and I had to sign some paperwork since the go ahead has been placed by two people that are in agreement with what I have found. So one major Christmas gift is officially ready and paid for just a pick up date of the twenty-sixth.

Walking back in the house, I take my shoes back off and my phone vibrates in my pocket several times. Standing in place I look at my phone and smile at how happy Natalie looks as she sent pictures of her and her family as they just seem to have finished opening their Christmas gifts together. Her eyes shine bright in the pictures and it brings me joy to see her so happy when just a month ago they weren't on good terms like they are now.

"Nicolas?" Mama peeks around the corner and smiles. "I thought I heard the door."

"Yeah, I was just checking my phone real quick." I nod and put it back in my pocket after responding to Natalie.

"What are we watching?" I ask while sitting on the couch next to Eve while Duke is on the other side of her, while Mama and Dad share the smaller couch.

"Some Christmas romance." Dad answers as his eyes are glued to the television and Duke fairing the same.

It makes me chuckles inwardly as they get into them just like Mama and Eve can. Well can't lie so can I. It is something about the movies that are so inticing with pulling in the viewers no matter who it is.

Once the movie ends, we all get up to stretch it seems I came in right at the beginning of the movie still. I walk to the kitchen to find a drink in the fridge not wanting to have any coffee this time of night in fear of it piping me up even more than I am currently. The anticapation of tomorrow has me going so hard right now and I can't wait to see Natalie along with having a family breakfast with everyone.

"Is your last minute gifts done?" Eve speaks up from behind me where I have moved to look out the window at the sink.

"Yes, everything is set to pick up the final gift the day after tomorrow." I nod with a smile.

"You know it is a wonderful thing you have done." Eve smiles wide, then walks over to look out the window with me as the snow lightly falls.

"It took a bit more to have this all done in less than a months time. Luck really when looking at everything." I laugh lightly.

"Yeah but it is going to be the best for them all." Eve hugs me from the side and I hug my baby sister back.

"Don't you worry though because I have gifts for you too." I smirk when she pulls back with curiosity in her eyes. "But you don't get them until morning."

"Now that isn't playing fair." Eve pouts.

"Now Hun, you can wait less than twelve hours." Duke walks up and takes Eve in his arms, kissing her head.

"Where is the fun in that?" Eve smiles. "Can I have hints?"

"Nope. You get to where you ask more and more trying to get it out of us which can spoil the fun out of what you have to open." Dad chuckles walking in.

"Am I really that predictable?" Eve sighs.

"Yes, sweetheart you are." Mama joins in while I take her cup to rinse out for her. "Thank you little man."

I shake my head with a smile.

"Well maybe I should just go to bed to make the time go by even faster." Eve laughs.

"Knowing you that would work but one thing is you have to actually go to sleep." Dad and Mama laugh together.

"That is easy." Eve sasses.

"Says the one who would stay awake trying to catch Santa until you finally just passed out." I chuckle.

"You wasn't ever supposed to tell." Eve gasps.

"Sweetheart we always knew. You have a tell when your sleeping or not." Mama snickers.

"That is true." Duke chimes in making Eve look at him in shock. "Hun, you're not as slick as you think you are. That is why you have never caught me when I have hide things or pulled them out but seen it once waking up for the surprises I have done."

"Well then." Eve shrugs and smiles. "It is still so much fun to try."

We all laugh and walk into the living room.

"What time will Natalie be over for dinner?" Mama looks over to me.

"I am not sure, but I know she is having a breakfast with her family. She may be over mid-day or so as long as it is truly okay?"

"Of course it is okay Nicolas. She is the woman you are seeing." Mama smiles and Dad agrees with her.

"Did you get the one gift ready for tomorrow?" Eve looks over to me from where she is by the window.

"Yes I did and have it in my bag with her other gifts." I nod.

"What gift is that?" Mama looks between Eve and I.

"I want to ask her to move in with me or at the very least have a key to the house." I answer feeling a bit shy on it since it is really soon but I love her so much it is just the matter of telling her.

"That is the sweetest!" Mama squeals lightly and Dad holds her tight to him.

"I know it really seems soon." I start but Dad shakes his head.

"Not when you think about it at all son. You know how you feel and when it feels right there is no time limit on it at all." Dad smiles lightly and seems to ease the shyness I felt.

We all sit around and talk into the late hours of the night. Music played lightly and we all took turns dancing around as I danced with Mama and Eve both when Dad or Duke didn't have them in their arms. My mind goes to Natalie and how I couldn't wait to dance around with her, feeling her in my arms and seeing her sweet smile.
