28. Comfortable

The morning has been the best Christmas morning I have had in so very long. Tears could spring forward with all the joy that has surrounded me just being home with my family yesterday and this morning.

We all enjoyed a huge breakfast and the laughter came pouring out when Chrissy and I walked into the kitchen seeing Mom and Dad in a flour war. Being who Chrissy and I are we gladly cleaned it up seeing our parents have fun then to let them go clean up to finish up breakfast. The homemade waffles with fresh fruit, sausage links and eggs were the best.

Now I am freshening up a bit more to go over to Nicolas's parents house. I have done got the gifts in the car and now I wanted to change my shirt once again to a silver color blouse with a light lace trim work that adds to the design without being overly fancy but nicer than a plain colored shirt.

"Stop fussing." Chrissy sighs from my bedroom door frame.

"I can't help it, I am meeting his dad for the first time today."

"Chrissy is right sugarplum. Don't stress over it, that is the fourth time you have dashed to your room just to change shirts that I have seen in the last hour." Mom laughs.

"Mom I don't know what to wear and I am nervous." I sigh and sit on my bed, Chrissy pushes herself in and Mom walks in sitting on the bed with me with Chrissy in front of me.

"All which is normal to feel, but what matters is how you feel about Nicolas. Everything else will work out should something happen, but that I don't see how could anyone not like my oldest girl." Mom smiles. "When was Nicolas expecting you there?"

"He didn't give a set time but I wanted to be able to share gifts with Eve too since it is her birthday today too."

"Eve." Chrissy smiles and hands over a box.

"I will tell her this one is from you." I smile and hold onto it while we all leave my bedroom and make way to the living room.

"Thanks." Chrissy smiles.

"You have fun and don't get in any rush. Your Dad had to pick up the shift for this evening so he is in there resting since someone called out. Chrissy and I are going to sit here work on our crafts and find us some movies to watch along with eat all the leftovers from yesterdays dinner." Mom smiles and hugs me tight before handing my coat to me.

"Call me if you need me." I smile to them and then hug Chrissy before leaving out to my car.

The map system takes me right to Nicolas's parents house and I let out a breath of air in relief when seeing his car in the drive. No sooner than I can text that I am here and get out of the car, Nicolas comes bouncing out of the house.

"Hey there." I smile and he wraps his arms around me then capturing my lips in a fierce kiss.

"Merry Christmas, Angel." Nicolas hums when pulling back from the kiss.

"Angel huh?" I smile wide as I try to catch my breath.

"You're my angel." Nicolas smiles.

"Nicknames. Sounds like we are getting serious then." I tease making Nicolas laugh while I join him. He kisses me lightly once more.

"I got to get everything out of the front seat there." I point and walk with Nicolas over to the passenger side of my car before he could pull me in.

Thankfully, all the gifts are just in two huge gift bags to where it makes things so easy to carry. Other than I carry the box for Eve from Chrissy seperate in my hands since Nicolas got the gift bags of wrapped gifts.

Nicolas guides me inside and I follow when he removes his shoes while laying the gifts down gently since he doesn't know what is in them. He takes my coat and his to place on a rack before grabbing the gifts once more and guiding me around the hall corner and into a large living room where I see Eve and Holly.

"Natalie, this is my Dad, Jack. Then you have met my Mom, Eve, and Duke." Nicolas introduces us.

"Hello." I wave to them but Holly and Eve have already made their way over and pull me in for hugs.

"It is great to see you again and exciting you get to spend Christmas dinner with us." Holly smiles wide then I see Jack step up.

"Nice to finally meet you, Natalie. Nicolas has told us so much about you." Jack smiles and then pulls Holly into his arms, like Duke has done Eve and Nicolas does to me. "Hope you can eat because there is so much food being cooked right now."

"I can most definitely eat." I smile.

"Perfect." Jack smiles and we all go further into the living room.

"So Tony and Jewels won't be here today, they took a last minute vacation together since Jewels is off at the hospital for a couple of days." Holly speaks up and has Eve and Nicolas nodding. "Then your grandparents are over seas somewhere."

I learn a lot more about Nicolas's family in the last little bit of us all talking. It didn't take any time and I was completely comfortable, there is just something about Jack and Holly that is so warm and kind.

"Oh, Eve." I get up from the couch next to Nicolas which makes him almost pout it seems, making it hard not to laugh at him. "Chrissy wanted me to give this to you." I hand her the box.

"I will text her a thanks." Eve smiles wide and opens it up. Chrissy had gifted her with a dreamcatcher of some sorts but Eve truly seems to like it.

"I think it is time for all the other gifts." Jack gets up and Nicolas joins him as they pass them out.

A smile is over all of our faces as they pass out the gifts and I even have Nicolas pass mine out. Which shocks everyone I got them all gifts too with them saying how I shouldn't have but I wanted too.

"Who opens first?" Holly smirks wide.

"We all take turns? I just have to go and stir the food occassionally." Jack laughs and we all agree.

Nicolas wraps his arm around me as we sit and watch Eve get started opening another package.
