"I love you so very much Angel. There is not even strong enough words to say how sorry I am."
"You have nothing to be sorry for Nicolas. For a couple days I blamed myself thinking I should have known or paid attention to signs to bring you in to be tested but your parents really helped me. Even my Mom and Dad helped me they said I couldn't be guilty because this is no one's fault and out of all our control. I love you with everything I have."
"I would understand if you couldn't stay with me through..."
"Don't even go there." She cuts me off like she knew I would tell her it's okay if she left. Because it is, I understand if she wants to find someone else and live her life.
"My love is yours and only yours. I'm here through it all no matter what. I even spoke with my boss and I'm currently using all my paid leave time and after it has ran out I'll figure out how to work and be here through everything. I can work part time here in the hospital for a couple hours and then be right here the rest of the time and my family understands if I don't visit much at all because they even said this is where I belong because they know just how much I love you Nicolas. I'd elope because I'm yours only and don't need a wedding because our love is all that matters in the end we could say our vows, sign a piece of paper and save money."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah." She smiles softly at me then kisses me tenderly.
We pour our love into the kiss.
"So you want to be Mrs. Winters like now?" I smirk.
Even though I want her to have the wedding of her dreams, there is a different reason for my thinking.
"I would in a heartbeat Nicolas because I love you with all my heart."
"I want you to be so that way should anything happen you have everything I got Natalie. Trust me I hate to think negative and will fight with everything I have but I want things in order too."
"I know you will fight." She smiles at me sadly.
"Marry me? Tonight?"
"Yes." She smiles and leans her head on my shoulder. "Thing is though."
"What's that Angel?" I ask and move to look at her while she cranes her head back to look at me.
"Do we get person here when your parents are here or want until they leave after bringing the food?"
I let out a sigh. "We could wait until they leave?" It comes out in a question.
"It probably help keep everyone else from being jealous because Eve isn't here nor Chrissy or my parents. Make a true elope."
I nod slowly and feel the oxygen tube pulls slightly.
Then an idea hits me to where I can still give her the wedding of her dreams. "Us doing this I still want to have a ceremony with you like a wedding once I beat this and out of this place."
"That could be like us just renewing our vows of that's something you want to do." She smiles and kisses my jaw gently.
"I like that idea." I smile and rub her back. "Then everyone can be with us during that ceremony and we could say our vows we may want or keep tradition which ever you choose. Also gives us a day we can celebrate as our anniversary instead to have the happier memories."
"No matter when we marry whether we can tonight or a couple months down the road, it will all be special to me."
We fall into a comfortable silence. Exhaustion still heavy on my entire body but thankful to be awake.
"Oh here is your phone. I hope you don't mind but I responded to George's message when he texted a couple days back."
"I don't care in the least." I hum and look at it all.
Natalie told him what was happening when he messaged asking how the next book may be starting out. He asked to be kept up to date with how I am doing and if she or my parents needed anything. All nice of him and I'm shocked he offered since he doesn't tend to leave his house after we graduated college unless necessary, so I find that incredibly friendly of him.
A knock sounds on the door and my parents walk in with two boxes of food.
"We spoke to the nurses and you're clear to eat, so here is food for the both of you." Mama smiles and brings the tray over while Dad puts the food boxes on it.
"Thank you." Natalie smiles and then opens the lids.
"Thanks." I give a tight smile as my appetite is gone and the thought of eating seems revolting.
"You need your strength." Mama looks at me with a soft smile.
"I'll eat some." I nod and Mama nods with me.
They give us each a hug again before bidding us goodnight. Along with telling Natalie to call them if we need anything or if they need to come back. Mama promised to come by tomorrow on breaks since she is working, then Dad is going by the shop and then coming here after while only being eased on it since I'm an adult and Natalie is here.
Natalie eats on her food and scolds me lightly. I end up eating half of it and she is satisfied enough since it was so much in one styrofoam box. I'm more thankful she ate all hers, since dad said before they left to get the food she hadn't really ate much of anything and I could tell to from the way she felt against me on the weight she has lost seems like in just a short time.
"Are you ready?" Natalie looks to me after throwing our trash away.
"I been ready to marry you for a good while now." I smirk.
The food seemed to help a little with how I feel in some ways but not completely. Sleep still feels like it is calling my name just not as strongly as before.
"This pamphlet has the numbers on it."
Natalie hands it to me and I put in the call to have the person come in to my room to perform the ceremony.
