Natalie and I walk hand in hand as we make it to the cafe we seen further up the street from where I proposed. Maybe I was an idiot with how I said things but nerves got the best of me the very last minute and I lost everything I was going to originally say to make it romantic. Originally I was going to propose at the skating rink and get down on one knee while skating but it being her first time skating, that didn't feel right.
"How will we tell everyone? Did your parents or Eve know you planned this?" Natalie looks to me.
"They knew that I was planning to propose but didn't know when because they didn't know the ring was ready for pick up." I smile and look at her as I open the door for us.
Natalie walks in and I follow behind her while our hands never let each other go. Feeling the ring on her finger is everything to me and can't wait for her to hold my last name but I want her to plan the entire wedding to where it is whatever she has always dreamed her wedding may be because I am easy and just want her.
The lady seats us and hands us menus before taking our drink order immediately after to which we both got tea with lemon.
"How would you like to tell them with me about us being engaged?" I look to her once the waiter leaves placing the drinks down and gave us more time to look at the menu.
"I am not sure." She smiles. "How soon are you wanting to get married?"
"Angel, I would be fine if we went to the court house and got married right now but I want you to have the dream wedding you may have always wanted."
She blushes. "I hadn't thought about it honestly and even as a child I never thought about my dream wedding."
"Well this is your chance to take time to think about how you may want it. A day to make it special for you."
"It would be our special day Nicolas." She shakes her head with amusement in her eyes.
"Yes that would be true but every day with you is special for me."
"Cheesy." She laughs but is cut off from saying anything else as the waiter steps up to take our orders.
I go for the special they have with porkchop grilled topped with gravy and saluted onions, with a side of twice baked potato and salad. Natalie orders the mega burger with all the toppings and a order of mozeralla sticks for the side.
"I could text them I need help and then when they ask what I need help on I can tell them with planning a wedding." Natalie's eyes sparkle as she talks and her smile is contagious.
"Love that one because if we go by both our parents houses then we may never make it home." I smirk.
"We need to get home fast after we eat because I just want us to be in this happy bubble even longer with more fun than what we had before we left the house." She smirks because she normally is not so brazen while we are out in public but sticks to shyness while we are out.
Natalie sends the text while we wait on the food and we both laugh lightly as she tells them what she needs help with because they answered quickly.
My phone rings and I see it is Dad so I answer.
'Hello?'
'You are not to old to get your butt whipped little man!' Mama's voice rings through.
'Why is that?' I smirk and Natalie holds her mouth having heard since Mama was not quiet but instead yelled over the phone.
'Because your Mom thought something was wrong but got another best surprise with Natalie's text.' Dad answers as Natalie gets a text from Mama when she flipped her phone over.
Everyone is responding quickly and overly excited with us with the news of our engagement.
'I called to say congratulations since you know I am not good with texting. Dang tiny keyboard to these large thumbs I get so mad with how many typos I constantly have.' Dad huffs out a laugh.
'I understand that.' I laugh with him and then we talk a second more before getting off the phone.
The food arrives and Natalie moans taking the first bite of her burger.
"All good there?" I smile at her after swallowing a bite of my pork steak.
"The best I can get right now."
"Right now?" I raise a eyebrow and take another bite.
She nods. "Mhmm. You see I can't have you currently since we are in public so a foodgasm has to be the second best thing I can get for now."
I choke on the bite of potato. Taking a drink to get it the rest of the way down I look at her to see her wide mischevious smile it was my turn to shake my head. "You are very brazen today." Speaking what I thought earlier.
"You bring it out in me and I will gladly tell everyone in the entire world that you're mine and mine alone for the rest of our lives. There is no shame that I have because I got a man not a boy and my man definitely knows how to take care of me in every single way possible."
"I will forever take care of you too." I say with everything I have.
"I know you will and I will do everything I can for you too Nicolas. You have saved me in the ways I never knew of and helped more than you will ever know." Her eyes look over at me tenderly.
We eat our food and she gets to talking over a little bit of what she may like for the basics on the wedding. She isn't sure if she will have the traditional white gown and I get interested in what she is talking about and having possibly a themed wedding that would match who we are.
"So when are you thinking of us having the wedding?"
"I am not sure yet because it may take a couple months to pull it all together and make possible. I want our theme to be us and not traditional but we need to narrow everything down and you will have input, that is what I want in the very least. As for everyone to help I am just going to tell them our theme because I loved when Eve mentioned that the most and even Chrissy and our Moms jumped on that too. They made a group chat for all of us."
"Sounds amazing Angel." I smile and pay for the bill as Natalie takes my arm and we make our way back to the car. With us talking about the wedding that she already knows as it comes to her so fast and both of us sneaking touches, silently telling the both of us what our night will entail and what I can only hope is for the rest of our lives together.
