Dinner is a pizza place since it is the less crowded because we were hungry and didn't want to wait the extra time. So the pasta place was out but this pizza is so fine and delicious as I have my pineapple and ham combo, where Chrissy is all for her meat lovers and Nicolas went for a veggie pizza since we all got the small personal pan pizzas.
The talking never stops and Nicolas never once seems to be getting upset with Chrissy and how she many uses one word at at time. It melts me even further for him because he is so very patient and not asking her to repeat anything but he seems to actually know what she means with her single use words. I didn't think many people could understand her well but they have hit it off so easily.
"Where to next for the joy to start?" Nicolas looks at his watch and then smiles at us as I clean the table up some in my area.
"Well the lights don't turn on for another hour to two hours yet with it being so bright out still." I smile and Chrissy nods.
"We could go and play some of the games at the fair area?" Nicolas suggests and Chrissy really nods with me in agreeance.
Nicolas pays the bills before I can get out of the booth and smirks at me for being stuck. We all decide to just use the walk path instead of driving his car to get us up further. It is parked in the free parking zone and not in the actual pizza place lot so it will be fine where it is. Besides I want to stretch my legs and enjoy pushing Chrissy's wheelchair too for her, as Nicolas walks beside me.
"If either of you ladies could have a present what would it be?" Nicolas suddenly asks once our conversation seemed to quiet for a moment earlier with the beautiful day it is and how the light snow makes things magical.
"A puppy that could be trained to help Chrissy." I smile softly.
It is true the doctors told us a service dog would be good for Chrissy to have and would help to give her more freedom but they are so very expensive that I have not been able to save up for one yet, not with all the medical bills I been helping pay.
"Freedom." Chrissy smiles.
"A service dog?" Nicolas questions.
"Yes. The doctor said it would help Chrissy because then she may be able to do things on her own easier. Like even go to the store because the dog could help alert people if needed or help open doors for her and pick up items she dropped. As sometimes it is a fear Chrissy could have a seizure due to things but she has been on medication so it has been several years but there is a risk."
Nicolas nods and seems to be in deep thought.
"As you can tell our home is close to the stores but Chrissy has wanted to go and just get a snack and has money but safely it is something she couldn't do alone. At least with a service dog we all would feel a bit more comfortable." I continue.
"I can understand that." Nicolas smiles softly to us as we keep walking.
"What would you want?" I ask hiim back.
He shrugs and Chrissy huffs with her eyes narrow. "Tell." She then smiles.
"I am not sure, honestly." Nicolas laughs. "So are you guys dog people or just wanting one to help with Chrissy?"
"Oh we are dog people for sure. Chrissy and I had this small boston terrier when we were growing up and he was just the sweetest ever. I have always wanted another one of those but they are also expensive and even if we could afford one that breed wouldn't be the size that Chrissy needs." I smile to him.
We make it to the fair and the first game we come across is toss the ring. This is cute they have set it up in Christmas themed games that are just the exact same you see at a fair.
"Nicolas!" A female's voice calls out and we turn our heads.
"Eve." Nicolas smiles and hugs her when she comes up with a man with her.
"It is nice to see you again Natalie." Eve smiles and I can't get over how beautiful and cheerful she is just like in the store.
"It is wonderful to see you again too. This is my sister Chrissy. Chrissy this is Eve, Nicolas's sister." I introduce them.
"This is Duke my husband." Eve introduces us to the man with her who I can see is now holding a couple small bags.
"What all you got there?" Nicolas laughs as Duke shrugs.
"Your sister and how she can play the games. I was prepared this year and brought a couple bags with us to hold all the prizes that way I am not fumble dropping them all night." Duke laughs with Nicolas joining him.
Chrissy and Eve step up and place ring toss after handing over a couple quarters. Those two are neck to neck in this game together. They each win a small stuffed penguin.
Eve talks with Chrissy and is just like Nicolas, but Eve nevers even asks what had happened. They just simply talk over the games the only way Chrissy can and to see the smile over my sisters face means the world to me.
Time passes way to fast it feels like as we all go around playing multiple games. There are so many prizes that Chrissy has in her chair around her hips that her and I have won or that Nicolas won and gave me. Eve and Duke has stayed with us and I love it even more as it seems Chrissy made a new friend too, I even seen her and Eve exchange phone numbers which makes me so extremely happy.
