54. Quiet Screams

Natalie went to the kitchen, it makes the excitement jump up even more. This was a surprise in itself with what they all threw together and it didn't slip past me the couple of small wrapped gifts on the side coffee table. Those can wait until next year for all I care, because I can't wait to see how our families react to the news. Especially since Massie and Chrissy are the only two that have known but Chrissy doesn't know the gender.

I smile wide when Natalie walks back in with the box that must hold the cake.

"So." Natalie speaks loud enough to get everyones attention as they had been talking.

I been sitting here with Toodles just soaking in the fact of finally being back home and surrounded by all our loved ones. It still gets me that Laurie has changed so much and all for the best since we first originally met.

"I am not sure about all of you, but I am starving. Since the main food hasn't arrived just yet I say lets eat on this cake I had ordered and picked up this morning fresh." Natalie smiles and sits the box down in front of everyone on the coffee table.

"Now I knew I was forgetting something!" Mama sighs and then smiles. "Natalie to the rescue since can't have a party without cake."

It takes everything in me to not smirk since it is no ordinary cake.

"Well Hollie, you and Mom can open the lid." Natalie sits on the loveseat next to me.

"But shouldn't Nicolas?" Laurie looks to me.

"Be my guest Laurie. I am just enjoying everyone being here." I smile and nod slightly.

Mama and Laurie get up from the couch and they break the seal on the one side of the lid. I can tell when Natalie holds her breath and I take her hand in mine.

"No way!" Laurie squeals and looks up to Natalie and I.

"What?" Dad and Phin look to us as they get up from their spots to look at the cake.

Mama is just in shock I guess since she is staring at the cake still.

"Mama?" I ask and she looks up to me.

"What is going on?" Aunt Jewels and Grandma finally ask.

"Is this real Nicolas? No pulling a prank on us? I know sometimes you get them wild hairs up your backside." Mama finally looks up with a huge smile and teary eyes.

"No prank." Natalie and I answer together.

Mama then squeals and jumps up and down as Dad grabs her to stop her movements.

"We are grandparents to another baby, Jack!" Mama squeals and Dad laughs letting her know he seen the cake.

"Oh my goodness! Ethan more great grandbabies." Grandma smiles and pulls Natalie away from me just as Eve and Aunt Jewels does too.

I watch as every one fawns over Natalie and can't help but smirk as her cheeks start to turn pink from all the added attention.

"Clever idea there Nicolas." Grandpa pats my pat sitting down next to me.

"Thanksgiving baby and then a diaper design cake." Uncle Tony laughs.

"Well hell sometimes after all that Thanksgiving food I bout need a diaper." Grandpa shrugs.

Everyone of us heard him and it is has made the living room fill with laughter.

"How do you feel about becoming a Dad?" Dad looks at me and sits opposite of Grandpa.

"I am beyond happy and couldn't ask for anything more." I smile.

A huff leaves my mouth as Dad over powers me easily since I still lack much strength to pull me in his arms. It is the strongest hug I have had from Dad in years and then I fill my shirt wetten just a little before Dad pulls back and tries to wipe his eyes before anyone can notice.

"I can't believe my oldest is officially a father now too. To watch you be born and then grow up to be the man you are today is hard to believe just how fast it all seems to have flown."

"Yeah man, we are getting old as the freaking sun. Wait a minute. Is that a little gray coming in there Jack?" Uncle Tony sighs and then chuckles when Dad knocks him over since he has crouched down in front of us and went to point at Dads hair.

"Knock it off you two." Mama and Aunte Jewels scolds them. "Over grown man children."

Everyone smiles and then I finally get up to grab Natalie's hand. I bring her close to me and she sits on my lap since everyone is still around us and talking up a storm. Little Hinsel is being held by Duke as he is in on the talking.

"There is one more surprise. We already know the gender of the baby because we had the tests done that are available." Natalie speaks up and everyone seems to bounce in there spots.

"Are we going to get to find out or should we start guessing and nagging to find out?" Duke smirks.

"Chrissy can cut the cake and reveal the gender to everyone. To me seems fair as she was there when I found out I was pregnant." Natalie smiles and Chrissy is quick to pick that knife up since she had been the closest to the cake still.

Everyone holds their breaths and Natalie silently shakes in my arms. I look at her to see her holding her mouth laughing.

"Everything okay, Angel?" I whisper in her ear.

Natalie nods and then turns to my ear. "Look at everyones face."

I can't help but bite on my bottom lip as Mama is boucing in Dads arms her hands rubbing together. Uncle Tony is holding Aunt Jewels while they both have wide eyes. Aunt Massie leans back in the recliner her hands clapped together with a shit eating grin on her face since she has known. My grandparents are huffing at each other while staring at the cake saying 'girl' 'boy'. Laurie and Phin are over Chrissy's wheelchair and their expressions are filled with so much joy with learning on their first grandchild.

Just as Chrissy pulls the first slice of cake out, Laurie is quick to tilt her head just to see the color.

"Blue! It's blue!" Laurie all but whisper screams so not to scare a calm little Hinsel.

Everyone erupts into a quiet screams as Natalie's family fawns over their first grandchild. My family fawning over their second and how it is another boy.

Definitely one of the best days of my life.
