Louis's POV
After playing every game on my phone at least twice, I shove the damn thing back in my pocket and turn my attention to Niall.
"I know what'll cheer you up lad" he claims.
"No Ni, not now" I dismiss.
He shrugs and turns to face the TV after resettling himself on the couch.
The door opens.
"Harry what do you-"
I look up to meet the familiar large brown eyes of a young-spirited girl very dear to me.
"Luna?"
"Surprise" she says rather unenthusiastically, "Lily left her earbuds here. Do you know where they are?"
"Harry left a minute ago to give them to her" I say.
"Okay, I'll be going then."
"No wait" I plead, not caring if I sound pathetic.
"What?" She crouches to pull up her knee-socks. An unusual choice of clothing for such balmy weather, but it's not my place to judge her.
"Where are you going?"
"Nowhere" she lies.
"Roxanne left an hour ago. Are you and Lily going with her?" I interrogate.
She looks down, not meeting my gaze.
"No."
"Luna, your a bloody awful liar" I remark, feeling in a particularly asshole-like mood.
"We're taking our time off now. I'm not going to tell you where we're going though" she refuses, being her stubborn self.
"Let me guess. To see your Australian friends a few blocks down, yeah?"
Her eyes widen.
"What? How'd you-"
"They came to see you, remember" i remind her,"That sure was nice of them wasn't it?.." I trail off, not bothering to suppress my sarcasm.
"What do you have against them?"
"We hate them and they hate us. There's not much to it."
"Yeah well don't try and convince me to stay because it isn't going to work."
I roll my eyes. She's so incredibly difficult.
"Your not doing yourself any good, love. Chances are your going to get attached to them and not want to leave. And then you'll hate us even more. But why? You should be kissing our feet after what we did for you" I point out.
She glares at me. But it's hard to be intimidated by her. It's as if Niall were cussing me out after I provoked him. The two of them are such saints though. Maybe the reason I find myself attracted to her is because she has virtue against my bastardize.
"As our friends, they mean a lot to us. But your apparently too selfish to realize that. These three months are all we have left to see them. Why don't you want us around them? We've known them longer than you. And there really isn't any need for you to be jealous. We don't like them THAT way" she says stately.
I nod my acknowledgement.
"It's not that we don't want you around them it's just.."
I pause to configure my words.
No, it's exactly that.
"Louis, your a bloody awful liar" she mocks me.
"I do NOT sound like that" I chastise her lightly. As many petty little fights we may have, neither of us can stay mad at each other for long.
"Yeah it does. Your voice should have went through puberty a good five years ago, squeaks."
"Okay that's enough" I dismiss, "When are you leaving anyways?"
"Why? Are you excited for me to go?"
Her eyes flicker with amusement.
And so I give her the truth.
"Quite the opposite actually."
She frowns.
"Your being unusually nice.."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah" she affirms.
"Aren't I usually nice to you?"
"Beneath your sarcasm. But mostly when we're not around anyone else. When we.."
She pauses, as if she doesn't want to finish her sentence. So I finish it for her, knowing exactly what she was going to say.
"Kiss?"
Niall walks into the crammed kitchen, wriggling his eyebrows to indicate he heard us.
We both know its best to ignore him.
"Yeah. That.."
She lowers her eyes.
Except she speaks of it as if it's a shameful thing she's doing. But she shouldn't be. I know I'm a dick and all but hey, at least she's not Roxanne. Roxanne makes Harry innocent in comparison. And that's saying a lot.
It's awkward for a minute. Something I'd never felt with her.
One of us is always talking.
"You say that as if your ashamed of yourself" I state.
Her eyes harden. The playful spark in them has died, replaced with cold distrust.
"I should be. I trusted you by thinking what you were doing was good. But good is only good to a point where it's too good to be true.( the poetic is real) And I let you kiss me too. Twice.
I wouldn't normally allow that. But I did" she pauses, turning her back to me," But maybe I should just admit to loving you, right? After all, you'd get payed more, wouldn't you?"
