CHAPTER FOURTY-FIVE: THE FINAL FIGHT

PART II

Kai

I blinked up at the night sky, the stars looking so bright as the hazy cleared from my vision.

A horrifyingly familiar scream sounded out through the quiet night, making my jolt upright.

I sucked in a sharp breath as a twinge of stabbing pain hit my side.

That pain migrated to my heart when I saw three ghosts closing in on Emilia as our former ghostly tour guide watched on with a sick and demented smile on her face.

My eyes narrowed at the twisting moment her hands were making.

I was too far away for her to see what she was doing but I knew whatever it was, it wouldn't end well for us.

I stalked closer to Mrs. Williams, intending to take her out, when all of a sudden the male ghosts from my nightmares appeared in front of me, hauling me back.

The witch turned her head to the side and glared at me "Do you really think I don't have all my sides covered?"

"Why don't you be a woman and fight by yourself?" I taunted "You're so big and bad, why don't you come here and fight for yourself?"

"Why would I?" she snorted "When I have such faithful minions."

Another scream sounded and my frantic eyes found Emilia being dragged by the ghosts towards the Bayou.

In the split second of frantic panic, Emilia and I locked eyes.

"Plan B" she mouthed to me, dragging her feet and weight as the ghosts continued to pull her towards the water.

I sent her an anguished look, torn between following her orders and wanting to save her.

"Plan B" she urged as the ghosts stopped at the waters edge "GO NOW!"

Closing my eyes, I nodded once and took off, hoping with all my might that she could fend them off long enough for me to enact plan b.

EMILIA

I was thrown to the Bayou's edge, my body beaten, bruised, and bloody from the hits the ghosts managed to inflict on me.

How ever she managed to make herself corporeal in our world was the same thing she was doing now to these ghosts to get them to physically hurt me.

"Did you see that stupid girl?" Josephina hissed at me, grabbing my hair "He didn't even try to fight for you. He just took off and left you behind. So much for true love."
