Out of the oldest two, Seongwha got noticeably punished less. He had always been very respectful as a trainee and when he did toe the line, he stopped as soon as he was told off for it.
But that doesn't mean that it never happened. There were times when he didn't take the warnings given to him and continued to push. Seongwha often acted immaturely around the members. He had been the youngest in his family but the oldest in Ateez and that was something that took a bit of adjustment.
"Seongwha-ah! What is up with you today?" EDEN scolded. Seongwha bowed apologetically. He had woken up in a frightful mood but was trying to manage it. None of his members should have to deal with his bad mood.
"Sorry, hyung!" Seongwha apologized, before straightening up and going back to recording. He still could not get it right and it was worsening his mood. Luckily, they did get through recording and everything was fine. But there was more of a problem later.
"Guys! We don't have a schedule tomorrow! Let's go out" Seongwha suggested, looking at his members.
"Sorry, hyung. I'm a bit tired" Wooyoung left the room, going to lay down and play some games before sleep claimed him.
"Yeah, us too" Mingi and Yunho left, going to their room. Yeosang gave the older an apologetic bow and left, with San and Jongho trailing after him. That left just the two oldest alone.
"I think it would be best if we just stay in tonight. We can do something tomorrow when everyone's a bit better rested. Okay?" Hongjoong decided. Seongwha nodded but already he was forming a plan. He really wanted to go out, the only thing holding him back was the rule that none of them went out alone, a safety precaution. It applied only to the oldest four, the younger four couldn't go anywhere without a hyung, but they still had to have a friend with them no matter if they were part of the hyung line or maknae line.
"Get some sleep, okay?" Hongjoong squeezed Seongwha's shoulder, retiring to his own room. Seongwha followed him, waiting until he could hear the soft breaths of the leader. Only then did he get up, grabbing his phone and sneaking out of the room to get his shoes. It didn't take much to get out the door and he didn't run into any of the kids so that was a plus.
The only problem then would be where to go and hoping that Hongjoong didn't wake up or the kids didn't come looking for comfort when they couldn't sleep. That was one thing Seongwha didn't think about until much later but he had no worries at the time. The only thing in his mind was getting out, even if it was breaking curfew and the rules of the company.
He was enjoying himself, the cool night air relaxing in a way that Seongwha had never thought possible. It felt really good for him to be away from the dorms and in the fresh air. He never wanted to leave but he knew deep down that he would have to go back eventually. Nothing good ever lasts forever.
His good mood was interrupted by his phone ringing. Several text messages had popped up but he ignored them in favor of answering whoever was calling.
"Home. Now" Hongjoong's stern voice filled the silence of the night. Seongwha paled, this was not good.
"Hongjoong-" Seongwha tried to explain himself but he didn't know what to say.
"I don't care and I don't want to hear what you have to say. Just come back, now" Hongjoong cut him off.
"I'm sorry" Seongwha tried as a last resort but he got no response except silence: Hongjoong had hung up on him. The oldest sighed, reveling in the cool air for one more minute before beginning the walk home. Hongjoong was standing in front of the dorms, leaning against the wall. He looked tired and Seongwha felt a pang of guilt. Hongjoong worried enough about the kids without having to deal with his only hyung as well.
