"Hyung, can I talk to you?" Jongho knocked on Hongjoong's door and went in when the leader said he could.

"Of course. What is it?" Hongjoong turned his attention to the maknae. Jongho sat down, not saying anything for a few minutes. He was trying to gather his words.

"Were you serious about what you said?" Jongho needed to know that before he said anything else.

"Yes, I was. Why?" Hongjoong had a bad feeling that Jongho was going to admit he did something.

"Well.... I'm worried about 99-hyungs" Jongho admitted. Hongjoong was more interested now.

"What did they do?" Hongjoong waited.

"Wooyoung was up all night playing games, Yeosang was on the phone with Hyunjin all night and we all got very little sleep because of it. San was watching a very inappropriate movie a few days ago and I caught Yunho and Mingi sneaking back in here at four in the morning! Not to mention they've been all cursing like crazy since you decided to take a step back" Jongho listed.

"And what have you been doing?" Hongjoong was not stupid. He knew Jongho was hiding something.

"Okay, maybe I have been staying out too late" Jongho admitted. Hongjoong nodded, knowing that was it.

"Well like I said, this is up to you guys. Your adults now. Figure it out" Hongjoong knew that was harsh but he was serious about his decision and he knew Jongho was just trying to get him to reconsider, which Hongjoong was not going to do.

"Are you going to tell the company now? Since I told you?" Jongho did not want to get his hyungs in trouble with the company so he was hoping that Hongjoong would say no.

"No. I am going to be keeping a closer eye on all of you but as long as none of you repeat your mistakes, I see no reason to tell anyone else" Hongjoong decided.

"Thank you hyung" Jongho got up and went back downstairs. He was going to try harder to stay out of trouble but he wished that he could warn the 99 line. Of course, if he did that then they would know he told on them and they would hate him.

A week later, San and Wooyoung came limping into the dorm, dried tear stains on their faces. Seongwha took them upstairs to their room and took care of them. Hongjoong cried himself to sleep that night. It was clear to Jongho what had happened. San and Wooyoung got caught staying up late again and Hongjoong told the company.

"Why would he tell our manager?" Yunho wondered. Yeosang and Mingi looked just as confused about that. Hongjoong had never told their manager on any of his members before. In fact he would even lie just to keep the younger members out of trouble. It was a simple fact that Hongjoong did not trust the staff to deal with his dongsaengs.

"Because he promised that he would and we all know our captain never breaks a promise" Seongwha answered. Yunho, Mingi and Yeosang felt extremely bad for their friends. Jongho did too but he was more worried about what this would mean for the rest of them. Now that the staff and their CEO knew that Ateez was acting out, would they have more eyes on them, would they be watched closer? If one of them got caught doing something, would it be worse for them now than it had been before?

Seongwha had enough. This was going too far. Since the company was informed that Hongjoong and Seongwha were taking a step back, the staff were being much harder on the group than they had been before. They were now getting in trouble for things they hadn't gotten in trouble for before. When Wooyoung accidentally cursed under his breath, he got dragged out of the room and scolded harshly. Mingi accidentally knocked over a vase in front of the staff and was made to stand with his arms above him for almost an hour. Yeosang cried when he was yelled at, and Yunho ended up punching someone out of anger and protectiveness for his friends. He was punished so harshly with the cane that he ended up being unable to walk for days.

"What are you doing!?" Hongjoong was surprised when Seongwha walked in and grabbed his arm, dragging the captain out of the room.

"We need to talk" Seongwha stated, not saying anything more than that. Hongjoong tried to get away from him but the oldest was very set in his mind and he was not letting go until they got to an empty room and Seongwha locked the door behind them.

"What is this about?" Hongjoong had a good idea what was happening and he wasn't sure if he wanted to talk about it.

"I have always supported every decision you make. You know that right?" Seongwha started off, looking Hongjoong straight in the eye.

"Of course. I appreciate that" Hongjoong did know that and he appreciated it. Seongwha was always right by his side no matter what.

"But there are some things that I cannot support. I understand that you were trying to do what was best and it was a good try but this has gone too far. Our dongsaengs need us" Seongwha added. Hongjoong folded his arms in front of him and shook his head.

"Yeosang has had three panic attacks in the past week because of the staff. San can't even dance correctly because he's so nervous that someone's going to get in trouble. Mingi is like a turtle going into its shell every time a staff member walks past, even the makeup and hair people scare him! Wooyoung flinches every time someone raises their hand. This has gone too far Hongjoong. We need to do something" Seongwha was practically begging Hongjoong now.

"No...I can't" Hongjoong knew he needed to but he had already let his members down so much. He couldn't just decide to change his mind now. It was too late. Seongwha was getting frustrated with him.

"Yunho was bleeding! The damn manager caned him so hard that he bled! Do you know how many days it was before Yunho could walk again? It was a week Hongjoong! A whole week" Seongwha snapped. Hongjoong just kept shaking his head.

"What is your problem!? Do you enjoy seeing our dongsaengs in pain? Is that why you did this?" Seongwha wondered. He didn't think that was true but he was starting to wonder. Hongjoong looked at him with a betrayed expression. He looked like he had just been hit.

"How could you say that!?" Hongjoong yelled. Seongwha covered his eyes, trying to think. He was also trying to hide the tears gathering from Hongjoong.

"Well what am I supposed to think!? You made this decision and I backed you up on it. It's not working Hongjoong and your not doing anything about it. I can't do this alone" Seongwha argued. Hongjoong still couldn't change his mind though no matter how much he wanted to or how much Seongwha begged him to.

"Fine...if you don't want to, then fine. But I am not going to sit back and watch this go on. I'm telling the manager that I'll be taking responsibility for our members from now on" Seongwha decided, glaring at Hongjoong as he left. The captain was left behind in the silent, dark room.

Their staff were not happy at the change of events and Seongwha felt a sick sort of glee at their dismay. They would not be able to touch his kids again, never again. And that was a promise that he was making to himself and to his members.

It was very noticeable that there was a divide in the group. Seongwha took care of the younger members but he left Hongjoong alone. Some of the members even went so far as to bully their captain for not protecting them. Hongjoong let them; he told himself over and over again that he deserved it and he didn't stop it. He didn't even get upset when they said the meanest, most vile things to him. Seongwha was oblivious to it all and Hongjoong never said anything to him. There was no way that Hongjoong could. Just like his guilt wouldn't let him undo his decision, it also didn't let him confide in his only older friend.
