The 141 was celebrating mildly, as to say. Everything was how Elena had imagined when she first lay eyes on their compartment. The beer bottles and feet kicked up on the table in front of the TV. As it played some soccer, or as the 141 liked to correct - football, they sat and watched the game, oftentimes bursting out with a loud curse or cheers.
Having arrived at the base, said their goodbyes to Alejandro, and sent out the document to a higher authority, having, of course, confirmed their value and accuracy, the team relaxed. As they sat on the couch, watching the game, Elena had taken the far left side of the couch. However, she didn't mind one bit, as Gaz was right next to her, not only creating a barricade between her and Sam but causing Elena's cheeks to burn.
''Another one?'' Gaz asked halfway standing up, as he looked at Elena.
''Oh, thanks,'' Elena smiled, handing him the empty bottle.
Elena's eyes followed Gaz, as he walked around the couch and right into their so-called kitchen area. He ducked, opened the small fridge, and picked out two beers from it. Elena looked away when he stood up, caught by Sam.
Her eyes turned back to the TV, as she waited for Gaz's return.
''Cap's missing such a good game,'' Soap commented, resting his head back on the couch.
''Ehh,'' Sam shrugged. ''You should watch real football and-''
''Woah, woah!'' Soap shook his head, drastically turning his head to the right.
''Johnny, don't start,'' Ghost gruffly added, slowly turning his head to the left, as he watched the Sergeant practically blow up. However, Elena could see the smirk on Soap's face, as he spoke.
''Don't YOU start, American,'' he said proudly, leaning over to glance at Elena. ''No offense to you, lass. That muppet doesn't know what he's talking about.''
Sam swiftly turned his head to Elena, giving her a hopeful look.
''Don't look at me. I'm on his side,'' she chuckled, giving Soap a small look, and shrugged. Just then, Gaz sat on the couch and handed Elena her cold beer.
''Can't believe it,'' Sam shook his head and replied quietly, looking down. Sitting for a brief moment, he clasped his hands together, Elena being reminded again of his habit, and stood up. ''I'm going for a smoke. Elena?''
''Mm?''
Sam looked at her with raised eyebrows.
''I don't smoke,'' she replied and awkwardly smiled.
''I know. Just... wanna have a word with you,'' Sam replied quietly, already taking a packet of cigarettes out.
''Is this about football?'' Elena asked, standing up, and crossing her arms.
''If I say yes, will you come join me for a smoke?'' he asked, tilting his head toward her and then the exit door.
Taking in a long breath, Elena remained silent and moved toward the exit. Leaving the beer on the small table, she turned to the couch.
''Don't drink that,'' she replied and smiled softly, briefly looking into Gaz's eyes.
The two of them walked down the corridors in silence, passing a few pairs of eyes and turn of heads. Sam pushed the door large door open, letting Elena out first. Elena was thankful for the leather jacket that hugged her. Begging the man in front of her for something to wear was the last thing she was going to do.
Sam rested against the wall and lit up his cigarette. He inhaled in silence and watched as Elena stood in front of him, arms crossed and pursed lips.
''Why do you have that look on your face? You seem concerned,'' he asked after blowing out the smoke.
