Hey! This chapter might be a bit more melancholic, as the next one is going to be filled with action! Oh, and this chapter begins from the perspective of our dear Captain Price hehe. Thought I might switch it up and show his thoughts on some matters. I'll have a whole free week from work & uni, so I'll be able to update a few more times over the week! <3 Hope you enjoy the chapter!

Captain Price had started to smoke yet another one of Elena's presents for him. The cigars that she had picked out were truly something else, he noted to himself, as he lit it up. It would last perfectly until their landing in Amsterdam. There, Kate, accompanied by three of her agents, and expensive cars would be waiting for them. They had to, of course, blend in with the wealthy businessmen in Zuidas. Then, work their plan through tactically. It was a lot to take in, even though Price had operated missions like these and much more dangerous ones countless times. There was another reason.

He closed his eyes, inhaling the first smoke, and opened them to look at Elena and Gaz, as he exhaled and blew out the smoke in front of him.

Although he was sitting further away from them, he could spot how close they were to each other. Physically and otherwise. However, no one was blind enough not to notice the clash that had risen between them. Whereas normally, training simply indoors, the two would be quietly chatting away, the two soldiers were dead quiet.

Yet they remained seated next to each other. Was it Gaz's doing? Price thought he knew Elena well enough and assumed that she would be the one to distance herself after a fight, figure things out, and ponder endlessly before speaking up and coming back again. It must have been Kyle's doing.

But still - neither of them spoke to each other.

''L.T., you look out for us with that sniper, all 'rite?'' Soap's quiet voice playfully spoke and, for a second, Price's eyes moved to the Scotsman.

Soap was sitting on the opposite side from where Ghost, Elena, and Gaz were. Price knew that the young man definitely found the whole situation amusing between the Sergeant and the ex-agent. Although Price knew things would be fine with them once again, he knew how much Gaz cared for her. Enormously. Even though Gaz hadn't said it directly, Price could see the specific feeling that he was feeling for her.

All of their force, of course, including Kate, knew how much Elena had gone through and it pained Price to think of how much trust Elena had to put in each person, wondering whether the next one would simply kick her away or take her in. And he really wanted to take her in, under the safety of his wings, and make her feel at home. As much as he could. Kate had trusted him with her and Price felt honored.

There weren't many people in Kate's life either. Hell, none of them had that many people in their lives. It was the young soldiers who still had families waiting for them at home, the ones who hadn't tossed their hopes away of seeing them. The soldiers still frequently received letters and calls from their families. It was rare to see someone not burnt by the world.

Gaz was one of those.

He was a man with life in him.

And Price knew that that had been taken from Elena many years ago and he, since the moment she had become one of them, felt a badge of responsibility placed upon him. He would try his hardest to restore the spark in her even with his tormented life. But he knew that there was someone capable of doing that and she deserved it.

''Don't worry, Johnny. I'll keep watch over all of you. Not just me,'' Ghost ensured and Soap chuckled.

Price noticed the quick exchange which had happened several times over their flight. Someone who hadn't been watching them carefully would have missed it.
