Elena gently pushed open Gaz's door, the hinges creaking ever so softly as if conspiring with the night to maintain their quiet meeting. She stepped inside and cast a glance around the room, closing the door behind her. Elena's eyes soon met the warm gaze that belonged to Gaz.

''Hey,'' she spoke, her voice barely above a whisper. ''We should probably whisper. The walls are super thin.''

There was a hint of excitement in Elena's voice. A tone that told them both of the rush she felt. Not that meeting with Gaz or, potentially with the others, would be prohibited. However, given last night's events, it felt sacred and sweet. And the feeling of excitement and secrecy filled her.

Gaz flashed a mischievous grin.

"Whisper it is, then," he replied, his voice reduced to a murmur.

The room, dimly lit by a single lamp, bathed them in a warm glow, creating an atmosphere that seemed to cocoon the space in intimacy. The air was charged, but not with the tension of a mission.

Elena, unsure of where to begin, found herself in an awkward stance, as she stood by the closed door.

''So... why aren't you sleeping?'' Gaz asked, his gaze steady yet inviting.

The question hung in the air for a few seconds, as Elena composed herself, her hands coming together in a clasp in front of her. She fumbled for words.

"I...'' Elena took a breath and spoke. ''Just one of those nights where you can't fall asleep... Can't shut your brain off.''

Gaz nodded, an empathetic smile gracing his features.

"Yeah, I know those nights...'' he spoke and cocked an eyebrow.

The exchange held a delicate balance. Elena felt caught in the magnetic pull of Gaz's gaze. Gaz nodded in agreement, his eyes betraying a flicker of curiosity as he motioned toward his bed.

''Come sit down...'' he offered, his tone carrying warmth.

Elena's eyes darted to the bed where Gaz was sitting. Elena stood awkwardly. She had been invited to sit on beds before by several people. She had sat and shared someone's bed more than a few times. However, it was Gaz. Kyle. Kyle. The same person whom she had shared a kiss with the previous night.

Despite her thoughts, she accepted the invitation and lowered herself onto the edge of the bed. The worn fabric beneath her felt oddly comforting. It was a stark contrast to the events of the last night.

Elena breathed out and looked at him.

As their eyes met in the subdued glow of the room, Gaz's gaze lingered on the scars that adorned Elena's skin. Elena wasn't sure if she liked Gaz's eyes linger on her for so long. Yes, she knew, her scars were a testament to battles fought, both seen and unseen, but that didn't mean that she felt slightly exposed. Did she like it?

"You've been through a lot," he observed in a gentle voice, his eyes tracing the marks.

Elena, her fingers unconsciously grazing the edges of the scars, looked at him and briefly furrowed her eyebrows. She offered him a faint smile and looked away.

"It's nothing," she assured. "I've had worse."

Gaz sighed.

''That doesn't make it nothing...'' he continued. ''We all have... scars and all, but... and I know we shouldn't dwell on that stuff... I just...''

Gaz stopped, sensing the delicate balance of the night, and chose his words with measured care.

''I just want you to know I... I see you.''
