𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 32: Let it go

I was just so committed
No, I don't regret it
'Cause I learned what love is once I
Let it go, let it go, let it go
Let it go 'cause you're doin' too much and you just won't let go
And I know it was you, and you tryna hold onto my attention
Won't you let it go?

Balloons, cake, gifts...but nothing compared to the magnitude of love and genuinity that filled up the entire room. 90 days, 3 very long months, but she was done. She went through the program to get herself together physically and mentally and promised herself she'd get it done. It wasn't easy, not even close to being such. But it worked, and it allowed her to stand in the doorway of the rehab facility as a woman she didn't even recognize.

"I am going to miss you sooooo much!" Angela groaned through the hug she embraced Amerie in.

She'd already said goodbye to everyone, and was being forced to deal with the most difficult one. Tears welled her eyes that she couldn't even blink away if she tried.

"I'm going to miss you so much more." Amerie sniffled as the two pulled away from one another. "I can't find any other words but thank you, for everything that you've done for me and all of the time you've sacrificed on me. I will never ever know how to repay you, and I don't care about it just being your job. You've connected with me and made me feel like a human during one of the hardest times of my life and I am so appreciative." Amerie sniffled as her fingers wiped away at the tears that leaked from her eyes.

"I will never forget about you sweetheart, and I'm always one call away...but there's someone else waiting to see you." Angela pointed just outside of the glass door where Malani stood with her father.

Amerie didn't even have to exude anymore words to give Angela one last hug, before quickly making her way outside. She could see Malani's excitement growing with the closer she got to her daughter, until she made it outside to be with her.

"Hi baby!" Amerie picked her daughter up excitedly, the feeling of holding her child while being completely free of any restrictions being one like none other.

Words couldn't describe what it meant to finally be back with her child without limitations, restrictions, or anyone telling her when she can and can't see her. It was like a breath of fresh air, especially to be doing this outside of the confined walls of the facility she'd called home for the last 90 days. Completing a program that was done for herself, and to be better for the little girl who cheesed in her face happily.
