"I'm so sorry for the confusion Ms. Winslow, I can make sure your daughter is seen next Saturday at 11 am if that works for you." Amerie's soft voice spoke into the phone to the woman who spoke to her on the other end. She could hear the tone of an angry mother, but her calm was kept because she understood.
The deep sigh of Ms. Winslow sounded in her ear before her voice did. "Yes, I will see you then." She spoke harshly, before hanging up in Amerie's face who was too busy looking down to care.
Amerie's pen danced along her notepad from the office seat she sat in tiredly. She swiftly scribbled down the information onto her calendar in hopes she'd remember all that she had in her busy schedule. It seemed like nowadays, if it wasn't work it was her kids and if it wasn't her kids then it was work. She was grateful to have the means to be so busy, because it meant everything was running as it was supposed to with her endeavors. Yet, it didn't change the exhaustion that came over her as the days passed.
Setting the notepad aside, she leant back in her husbands office chair, the one labeled 'Syre' to signify the CEO position of the two story building his wife gifted him just months ago. Amerie's eyes looked around his office space, and she couldn't contain the small smile that tugged at her lips seeing the pictures of her, their kids, their family altogether, and just the two of them.
She naturally remembered the first office she'd ever been in of his, where his walls contained nothing but drugs and guns. There wasn't a picture in sight, no signs of a man who'd one day have a loving family that he wasn't shy from displaying for anyone who walked through the doors.
Her eyes roamed until her solitude came interrupted by the buzzing of the office phone. Taking a deep breath, Amerie stared until realizing the call was coming in from the front desk, prompting her to raise the phone to her ear.
"Yes?" She spoke kindly to the young receptionist who took care of the front. She could hear the sounds of chatter that came from the waiting room, and the distinct sounds of buzzing that came from the many tattoos being done on the main floor.
"Hey Mrs. Acius, sorry to bother you. I have someone here who is inquiring about when Mr. Acius will be back in the office, and I also have someone by the name of Raven requesting to see you." Taking a deep breath, Amerie glanced up at the time that read 12:13 pm.
