***PRESENT DAY***
***CHRIS POV***
It had been a couple of days since I had my fight with Ronnie and whenever I thought about it, it just pissed me off more. I didn't want to think about it but it was constantly on my mind, she lied to me. Ronnie never lied to me in our whole entire friendship. We had been friends since we were kids since our moms were best friends.
Ronnie and I were always paired together as kids, even though there were 4 years difference in our age she was always around, and we were the closest. I just wanted me and Ronnie back but she pissed me off and lied to me.
I got to my mom's house and got Dodger from the backseat. He went running to the door and it was opened by Scott.
"Hey, we were wondering when you were going to get here." Scott said and I just half nodded as I walked in the door. I hugged my brother as I walked in, and he could feel the tension.
"Wow, what has you so tense?" Scott asked and I groaned.
"Nothing." I said as I walked into the living room and saw my two sisters and Carly's husband. Carly looked at me and huffed a laugh.
"Wow, if looks could kill..." She said and I groaned.
"He is tense too but won't talk about it..." Scott trailed off and I groaned sitting down next to Shanna as Lisa came walking in from the kitchen.
"What's going on?" Lisa questioned seeing everyone look at me.
"We are trying to figure out why Chris has a stick up his ass." Shanna said and everyone but Lisa and I laughed. Lisa sighed and looked at me.
"Guys come on...leave your brother alone." Lisa said.
"Thanks Ma."
"You should talk about it though, make you feel better." Lisa suggested.
There was silence from all of us as I decided about what to say and how to bring this up.
"It's Ronnie."
"Ronnie? What does she have to do with this?" Scott questioned.
"She lied to me."
"Lied to you? How?" Carly asked confused.
"She has a boyfriend." I stated matter of factly.
Everyone looked at me like I was crazy.
"A boyfriend? Are you sure?" Lisa asked.
"She made a date with him while standing in my kitchen! I think it was pretty obvious." I said.
"So let me ask you this, why does it bug you?" Scott asked.
"Well, she told me she didn't have a boyfriend and then she was making a date in my kitchen on the phone calling him baby! What the hell is that about?!" I vented and everyone just stayed looking at me.
"I still don't see a problem..." Scott trailed off.
"She lied!"
"Like you've never lied before?! The wallpaper incident comes to mind..." Lisa said.
"Yeah! Exactly!" Scott yelled.
"That wasn't a lie, that was omitting the truth." I said and everyone rolled their eyes.
"Chris this girl has watched you date girl after girl and never said a damn word, now you are freaking out because she found someone?" Shanna asked and I sighed, not wanting to answer her.
"What is this even about Chris? I mean did something happen on the phone call, does she not seem happy?" Lisa questioned.
"She seems happy."
"Then what is it?!" Lisa groaned.
"I just wish she would have told me earlier in the evening. We spent the night together watching movies and having dinner. I even asked if she was seeing someone and she said no." I mumbled. I knew everyone heard though.
"Why should she be expected to tell you everything when you yourself is keeping secrets and don't tell her everything?" Carly asked and I glared at her.
"Can you just not." I snapped. Carly just held her hands up in defense and walked into the kitchen.
***CARLY POV***
I walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water because Chris was just being ridiculous. As I filled up the cup Scott came rushing in.
"What do you know?"
"What are you talking about?" I asked confused.
"What you just said out there...what were you talking about?" Scott asked.
"Nothing Scott, let it go." I said and he sighed.
"Truth Carly! We are talking about lying right now and you are lying to me. I just need to know if you know what I know." Scott said and I shook my head.
"I don't have time for mind games Scott. Just know what I know you may also know if you see all the signs I have seen since we were all growing up together." I explained as subtly as I could and then walked out of the kitchen. Once I was back in the living room Chris was looking at me and motioned for me to go outside with him to the front. I groaned and followed him out.
We were outside on the front stoop and Chris was shuffling his one foot.
"Chris...you want to admit something to me?" I questioned. He looked at me and sighed.
"I know why it bugs me and you know why it bugs me but I cant let it bug me. She moved on, she never knew what was there..." Chris rambled on.
"What was there? Not there anymore?" I asked.
Chris just grunted and looked at the ground, still shuffling his one foot and I groaned looking at him.
"You going to do a tap dance for me? Shuffling that foot like you are." I asked and he huffed a laugh.
"If I thought it would make you forget about this whole conversation and what happened years ago, I would do whatever I needed." Chris said. I walked over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"I'm not one to usually say ruin what someone has but Chris, you need to tell her how you feel." I said and Chris shook his head.
"It's pointless Carly."
"Why is it though?! Maybe she isn't even serious with this guy." I protested.
"She would never look at me as more than just a friend. That's all we will ever be. So, this talk of telling her is stupid, with two o's. If I can only have her as a friend, then that's how it's gonna be." Chris said and walked off the porch and headed down the street to take a walk.
